i like music.
pretty much all kinds.
currently, i play in a powerpop band (uncle pumpkin), i've performed as a sideman with clay aiken, gary burton and zakir hussain. i perform regularly on broadway in nyc (grease, in the heights, legally blonde, wicked, altar boyz, white noise, evil dead, i held the guitar chair at the irish rep theater's revival of "take me along"). but my main challenge and love is jazz. sessions in manhattan and brooklyn, gigs with my group, trio grande and lots of time spent trying to figure out how to do it better and turn myself into a better musician.
what it all comes down to is, no matter what the style, i'm continually working to get the filter off my playing and just channel some real shit.
what some people who have opinions have said:
"...Driscoll the guitarist is no slouch, either. His phrasing transcends the limitations of his instrument, combining energy with horn-like fluidity." --Performer Magazine
"...Sean follows with a solo so delicate to the touch it's like he's stepping on eggs..[His] sound is reminiscent of George Benson's with a sprinkle of John McLaughlin and Wes Montgomery." -- Jazz Zine
"The group seamlessly navigates shifting time signatures and provides telepathic accompaniment behind creative soloing." --All About Jazz
Sean marches to the beat of his own drummer. This is refreshing when you consider how difficult it is these days to maintain some semblance of originality..." -- The Jazz Review
"Driscoll is a skilled jazz composer and an egalitarian band leader. His group has already achieved a level of musicianship most bands can only dream about. Here's hoping a major label signs these guys." -- All About Jazz
