Listen to it. Comparisons breed expectations which in turn breed anti-climax.
Let's see here. I think I can do this with brevity and candor. I wanted to be an actor for the duration of highschool and the beginnings of college. Oddly enough it was this that brought me to music. Like all my other awkard brethren, I found solace in music around 13. I began to play guitar in highschool after attending a cast party after the final performance of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". There were 2 castmembers sitting around a campfire swapping what were then popular songs on the radio. I was enamored and determined to make it my own.
I didn't play to chase the dream of fame or fortune. I did play with obsession and became what I thought was a solid guitarist. What did I know? I was only 17. The first person that made me want to write music was a good friend of mine Jon Hooper in 2002. I was taken back by his earnest and avant garde guitar compositions. I began to write with the same kind of self satisfaction that I originally played with. In college my interest had reached its apex and music turned to more than hobby. I've played with a ton of musicians down the line, some of them semi permanent, some of them a one time occurence. All have made me better. In Summer of 08 I played and sang for "The Cameron Quartet".
Currently, I'm in a transitional year as I have quit all my other responsibilities so as to focus fully on guitar instruction & performance. In the midst of all this, I am also recording a full length album which I propose to be finished and distributed by Summer of 2010.
please feel free to give me whatever thoughts/opinions/suggestions/threats come to mind here or via email at seanevanmusic@gmail.com I'm a sponge for feedback.
I'm glad to hear that you're having no problem finding work! I feel your pain about no AC Nicko's car doesn't have it either, and I can't drive my car for now. Things are going to be looking up at the end of this week when I get my first paycheck from my new job. Aside from that, it's still the same crazy rollercoaster we call life.
Thanks! It's a festival that they've put on. I know 3 of the bands performing (Token Gamblers, Mike Dunn, and The Legendary JCs) Should be a good time. Hope you can make it out.
