Influences
I have been influenced by many different genres of music. I love jazz, blues, country and rock music. I love so many different guitar players it is difficult to name them all. I can always try though. I would have to first say I have been influenced by my dad. I basically got the thumb pick and finger-style thing from him. Other influences have been (and not in any particular order) Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Danny Vaughan (college guitar teacher and friend), Stevie Ray, James Taylor, Les Paul, Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, John Scofield, John Abercrombie, Django, Charlie Christian, B.B. King, Mike Stern, Merle Travis, Willie Nelson, Mark Whitfield, Joe Pass, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Benson, Prince, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, John Mayer, Duane Allman, Brian Setzer, Carlos Santana, Brad Paisley, Larry Carlton, Thom Bresh, Pat Metheny, Stanley Jordan, Derek Trucks, Edge, Earl Klugh, Scott Henderson, Tommy Emmanuel......... for starters.
Sounds Like
Not sure if I sound like anyone in particular. I have written songs that have been heavily influenced stylistically by certain artists, just not sure if you could compare my sound to someone elses. You decide.
I am a husband and father first and a guitar player second. I love playing, singing and writing music as well. I am a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with an undergraduate and graduate degree in music. I have played in variety shows, gigged, recorded, taught high school and college, was a worship pastor and am currently the collegiate pastor and worship leader for the Saturday Night Service for Enid First Assembly in Enid, Oklahoma. I enjoy playing guitar, leading worship, writing music and helping others find and develop the talents and abilities God has given them.
