"Sean Jackson is a one-man band, mining something on his... ...album "For You" that recalls Foo Fighters with a bit of R.E.M. You guys might say it sounds straight outta '97. You'd be right! Doesn't mean the songwriting isn't there, though. "Burn" is the lead single, and it sees Sean's "band" gelling on some jangle and rock, Jackson ashamed "for losing sleep," all over a case of unrequited love. Isn't it always.
(Stereogum 10/05/07)
"It is exceedingly rare to find an artist that can effectively convey his music well without the help of other musicians, Attempts are usually inbred and one-dimensional. From a one-room studio outside of Annapolis, Sean Jackson has figured out how to do it."
(Ty Ford - Music Monthly 2007)
Sean Jackson is of the breed that created grassroots icons like Paul
Westerberg and Steven Malkmus: he has been building a musical world
around himself for years, and now he’s taken it public with “For You,” a fully self produced Record. When we say fully self produced we mean it. Jackson alone wrote, arranged, produced, engineered, mixed and played guitar, bass, (real) drums, piano, synthesizer and sang on the entire CD. Everything you hear was done by one man. (There is one exception. Jackson's 7 year old Daughter plays the toy piano in the track Smile. Isn't that cute?) ;)
The title "For You" in addition to being a song on the album is a tribute to one of Jackson's musical idols, Prince, (Whose First album was also called "For You" released in 1978.) Jackson was astounded at the age of 11 when he looked at the credits on the album 1999 and read "Produced, Arranged, Recorded, and Performed by Prince." The thought that one guy could walk into a studio and walk out with an album that sounds like a full rock band has been the obsession and focus of Jackson's life ever since. Soon thereafter he bought his first cheap 4-track recorder, and 100+ songs, and 4 full length CDs later, Jackson achieves his goal, (with a little help from a state of the art digital home recording studio,) by releasing to the world "For You."

last years’ open mic on st patty’s day was such a load of fun that we’re going to do it again- come celebrate st. patty’s day with us! it’s a few days early, but that doesn’t stop us from getting in the spirit of the irish! open mic- public invited- family friendly-all acoustic styles welcome (especially celtic and irish folk!) food and drinks available. 7:30pm- until we get tired. Headlining this event is "The O'Shindle McDeckers"- who are they? well, they are simply the best Irish music band...made up of a bunch of Germans...that didn't have another gig 2 days before st. patty's...but they played last year and they were a lot of fun, so come on out and party with us...www.uufallston.org for directions. This event is also a Baltimore Live Music Meet-up event.
