I tend to see things as they are released on DVD these days, but personally, my guilty pleasure has always been the teen comedy, the more John Hughsey the better. Pretty in Pink, Election, Can't Buy Me Love, Say Anything, Rushmore, Goonies, Cruel Intentions, Breakfast Club, Better Off Dead, Pretty Persuasion, 10 Things I Hate About You, Dude Where's My Car?, Ferris Bueller, Go, One Crazy Summer, SLC Punk, Some Kind of Wonderful, Splendor, War Games, Weird Science, Zapped!...
Other favorites include 28 Days Later, Evil Dead, Phantasm, Night/Day/Dawn of the Dead, Bodysnatchers, Grace of My Heart, Magnolia, eXistenZ, Secretary, The Limey, Mullholland Drive, Fletch, Caddyshack, Lonely Guy, Lost in America, Real Genius, Nightmare Before Christmas, Trainspotting, Harold & Maude, Annie Hall, Bob Roberts, The Last Party, 2046, Syriana
Television
I'm a recovering TV-holic... There was a time when I was watching pretty much everything for work, but now it seems I'm leaving my TV off for days at a time. That said, I swear by Lost, and don't trust people who don't see it's brilliance. The Office and 30 Rock are also up there, as is a new favorite, Pushing Daisies. I'm glued to the 24-hour news networks during the day at work and love the roundtable debates every Sunday on This Week and Meet the Press...
I once killed a man because he gave my TiVo a dirty look.
Books
I love to read and lately, with my long drives to work, I've been loving Audiobooks. Reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and Suze Orman's Young, Broke and Fabulous recently has changed my life, but here's a list of other must-reads... In Me Own Words: The Autobiography of Bigfoot by Graham Roumieu High Fidelity/About a Boy by Nick Hornby Griffin & Sabine trilogy by Nick Bantock Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite The Fermata by Nicholson Baker Dangerous Angels collection by Francesca Lia Block Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac Junky/Queer/Yage Letters by William S. Burroughs Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Milman Dark Tower series by Stephen King Necroscope series by Brian Lumley Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass by Llewis Carroll Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling People's History of the United States: 1492 - Present by Howard Zinn American Gods/Sandman series by Neil Gaiman The List of Seven by Mark Frost Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
Heroes
Jack Kerouac, Anthony Bourdain, William S. Burroughs, Howard Zinn, Al Franken, Juliana Hatfield, My mom
Who I'd like to meet: ... a monkey I didn't like... As for people, it's rare that I meet anyone here online, rather, it's a good place to keep the slightest semblance of contact with friends and acquaintances whom I likely speak with far too rarely. But if you happen to have a monkey, I am so there!
Happy (LATE) Birthday! Sorry for the belation. Most years I remember yours (2/2) but forget my mother's (2/1), but this year the reverse was true. D'oh!
My deepest condolences Sean, Aspen's a fine canine and a great furry friend. I'm sure this is the right decision however hard it may be. My thoughts will be with you two this weekend, but alas, cannot make an appearance. Please accept my humblest of apologies but I have plans I cannot break.
