SEAN SELIG MCMAHON
Sean Selig McMahon is a composer-performer based in Western, Massachusetts. As a performer, his repertoire spans from renaissance countertenor literature to jazz and rock and roll. Throughout his young career, Sean has performed both solo as a folk musician as well as in rock trios and classical ensembles throughout the East Coast and Europe.
Most recently, Sean released a record of original folk music for guitar and voice, titled VIIb.
Sean's distinct sound is a synthesis of the many musics that have influenced him over time, such as the songs of Lennon-McCartney, Neil Young, and Cat Stevens; the work of jazz greats McCoy Tyner, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane; the compositions of Bela Bartok, Guillame Dufay, and especially Guillame de Machaut.
In the past, Sean has led and performed with different groups, including Counterpoint, rock trio, which played the New England area throughout 2002-2004.
Presently, McMahon continues to play throughout Massachusetts and the New England area, while studying music with Joe Morris, Dominique Eade, and Ran Blake at New England Conservatory of Music. His recent works include a children’s nativity play musical “Three Men & a Star” performed in December 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Houston, TX. His song “Last bite from the apple” is presently 15 on the Clear Channel Alternative Playlist, with 109,000 plays and counting, and he was recently nominated “Best Songwriter” in the annual Valley Advocate Grand Band Slam. His latest album “VIIb” (2006) is available at Turn It Up! Records in Northampton, MA, and www.seansmcmahon.com. This summer, McMahon plans to record an album of new material. - seansmcmahon.com

"Last bite from the apple" is now on the national Clear Channel playlist! Check it out here, and be sure to call in and request it on your local Clear Channel radio station (not sure if it's Clear Channel? Chances are, it is..)
How's it going? I hope everything is going well for you. I've just listened to your album again- it's still so good! Have you got anything new yet? I know I said this at about the same time last year, but are you going to be in England at all this summer? If so, then we really should get our act together and do a night together!

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I came across some stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, the fundamentals are still relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
OK, here's Chapter 1, Herr McMahon. These are the bands that have been occupying my CD player over the past few months:
Textures--brilliant prog-metal from Holland, anything by them is immaculate. Check out their latest release, "Silhouettes", which is in my opinion one of the best albums this year.
Hectic Patterns--fantastic grindcore from France, truly a band that's a cut above the rest right now.
Terminal Function--another great grind band from France (I think), kinda sounds like Meshuggah meets Death with lots of prog influences.
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza--math-core from Tennessee. I just saw these guys at the New England Metalfest earlier this year, and they were awesome!
Psycroptic--grindcore from Australia. Their new album is OK, but their previous release is even better.
The Faceless--a fabulous grind band from Los Angeles (not a place where grindcore usually comes from). Their new album is technical & blistering, brutal through & through.
That's enough for now...I don't to completely warp your brain...yet.
Be well, and don't a bum. We've gotta get together & jam soon!!
Good to have you as a friend! So great to see the internet in action this way, shortening distances between people.
