With a name that packs quite a musical punch, Sean Morrissey’s destiny would seem to be written in the stars. At the ripe age of 12, the self-proclaimed former wallflower from the Baltimore suburb of Mount Airy picked up his first guitar. While other pre-teen “musicians” spent their time perfecting Papa Roach covers, Morrissey was crafting folk creations well beyond his years. Between these efforts, Sean, whose influences range from country to jazz to punk rock, was broadening horizons as a member of jazz band, and Indie/Folk side projects with high school friends.
While attending college at Salisbury University, Morrissey explored other musical endeavors, including an experimental post-rock band that was greatly received by the campus and community. He began to try out his own vocal chops, took time writing lyrics, and he acquired an assortment of songs in his spare time. In the fall of 2007, Sean teamed up with long time friend and former high school band mate, Myles Vlachos, to create his solo debut EP Lolita’s Last Slow Dance.
Sean Morrissey’s debute EP features guest appearances from other musical friends; and with production help from Vlachos, created an album that is a true display of his creativity and talent. From the sharp wit of “Manhattan” to politically and emotionally charged tracks such as “2506,” Morrissey’s solo effort offers a full sound, with an unfiltered taste of folk and acoustic enjoyment. Lolita’s Last Slow Dance will certainly leave listeners wanting more.
