Sean-nós Northwest is a new regional nonprofit dedicated to promoting three aspects of traditional Irish culture – sean-nós singing, sean-nós dancing, and Gaeilge, the Irish language. We aim to sustain a vibrant community of these arts in the Pacific Northwest through an annual festival as well as workshops, classes, performances, and lectures. More info: seannosnw@gmail.com

Lillis Ó Laoire (Sean-nós Singing and Irish Language) is an award-winning traditional Gaelic singer from Donegal. Also a researcher and a university teacher, his work focuses on Tory Island and its song traditions. He won the Corn Uí Riada, the highest honor awarded to sean-nós, singers at Oireachtas na Gaeilge in 1991 and 1994. He is currently finishing a biography of Joe Heaney which he has cowritten with Sean Williams. Songs in his Sean-nós Northwest workshops will concentrate on Donegal traditions.
Kieran Jordan
(Sean-nós Dancing) is an internationally recognized performer, teacher and choreographer of Irish dance. With more than 25 years of dance experience, her unique approach to the dance marries deep-rooted traditions with contemporary innovations. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Kieran trained and competed in Irish step dancing for 14 years.
Kieran has become a major figure in introducing sean-nós dancing to the Irish dance scene in America. In 2005, she won second place in the Comórtas Chóilín Sheáin Dharach, a sean-nós jig competition in Ros Muc, County Galway, Ireland. She holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Dance Performance from the University of Limerick, and the TCRG certificate for teaching Irish dance.
Kevin Burke
(Irish Traditional Music) was born in London, England to Irish parents who came originally from Sligo, an area renowned for its traditional music, particularly that of the fiddle. He is well-known as a member of one of the most influential Irish groups of the 1970s, The Bothy Band, and has also made his presence felt as a member of both The Celtic Fiddle Festival, Open House, and Patrick Street. Kevin has a highly ornamented Sligo fiddle style that is both "in the tradition" and full of multi-cultural surprises. "My style is a definite composite," he says. "The old Sligo players provided the building blocks but I've borrowed bits and pieces from all sorts of musicians along the way."
