A Native New Yorker of Dominican decent,
Joann's sensibility of various cultures has allowed her to produce
groundbreaking events within the Latino, Caribbean, Brazilian and
art/dance
communities for over six years now. The stars were all in her favor when
her first involvement in the music industry was with the legendary party
Body and Soul in 1998. Her affiliations include Francois K's. music
label Wave Music and Deep Space. After her first trip to Brazil in 2004, she along with DJ True and Miller Cruz started a monthly event called ALMA NYC (myspace.com/almanyc), later accompanied by Manchildblack. Later, getting back to her more intimate roots, Joann
co-foundeded her next endeavor, a Latin party celebrating Afro-Latin soul called
RAZA (myspace.com/razanyc) which has been happening now for over a year.
She
continues to reinvent herself as she brings her personal flair to this
musical life style! You can read up more on her at: myspace.com/joann_jimenez.
