SEO is the name of the game. Helping people get to the top of the search engines. Making relevant pages for Google, the job of a SearchMaster.
I call it the "Three Simple Secret Steps of SEO".
- Search Phrase Selection
- Search Phrase in the header
- Search Phrase in the content
Now there are a lot more steps that I use to help people get to the top, but I find that the above three steps are fundamental to what SEO is. Creating relevant content for the search engines.
Often people have sites that already have a good number of links and good site architecture. All they need is for their pages to have the correct phrases targeted, and then their page made relevant for the search engines.
People need their site architecture sorted as well, and I work hard on that - reprogramming, add ons to the packages that they use.
vBulletin is a package that I especially love and have found a niche for optimizing. Google for vBulletin, and you will see my thread on Time2Dine vBulletin site ranking high. I use the vBSEO.com package to get the site architecture SEO friendly, then have fun with the Three Secret Steps to make the vBulletin pages relevant.
Linux Forums reported an increase from 30k to 80k uniques per day solely with the SEO template changes that I did. Nothing black hat, merely making the pages relevant for the search engines.
I started an online restaurant booking website Time2Dine Auckland Restaurants and from there learned heaps about search engine optimization.
There was a global competition for someone to create a page that got listed top of Google for the phrase Nigritude Ultramarine. I got 10th in the world and the efforts to get links gave me a big helping hand into the world of SEO. My link strat was a trade - I will seo some of your pages in return for links. Got me lots of friends around the world.
So now I spend my time helping others. Its a great job.
