Formed in Swedish town Umeå in 1990. Erik, Mattias and Jonas, found each other through a common devotion to 60's pop, Sarah-singles, high-brow literature and intellectual European films. They named themselves Seashells, a very appropriate name for their breezy take on that thing we call pop music. During 1993-1998 Seashells were heavily involved in the musical scene in the town of Umeå. That particular scene produced a number of good bands (Honeymoons, Ray Wonder, Komeda and Puffin to name but a few) and a great record company, Nons Records. During this vivid period the 'Shells released two records for German label Marsh-Marigold Records and one for Nons. Then, suddenly, nothing. What really happened with Seashells until Japanese label Quince Records hunted them down and pulled their collective ear still remains a mystery. However, with the 2004 release "Remains of Something Sweet" Seashells were truly back in style. Currently, Seashells are keeping a low profile and enjoying their status as "Grandfathers of twee". The band is still active in the shadows, though, and, who knows, new songs just may appear in your favorite extended network...
