New Year's Eve Skateboard Lock-In at the Camp Rilea Armory
Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District is proud to bring yet another fun, safe and exciting event to the boys and girls ages 10-17. This New Year's Eve, SEPRD will host the first ever “Skateboard Lock-In”. What is a “Lock-In”? Precisely what it states! Once you sign in your child at 8pm New Year's Eve, they are not permitted to leave the Warrenton Camp Rilea Armory without your signing them out New Year's morning!
There will ramps, wedges, rails, ¼ pipes and more to help your skateboarder to ring in 2010 safely! Tons of food, games, movies and holiday fun for all will round out this night of partying till we drop!
As always, for SEPRD, safety comes first! Helmets are required for all skaters and pads are recommended. For those of us who get sleepy, there will be a designated sleep areas. This is a SEPRD supervised event so staff/skater ratio is low! Pick up is promptly at 8am New Year's Day.
Participation is limited to 30 so register early! Reserve your spot today! Registration forms can be filled out at the Bob Chisholm Community Center 1225 Ave A. For more information, contact Brandi at 503-738-7393.

Each and every person who helped Seaside get a skatepark built!
About me: NORTH COAST SKATE 'N RIDE Committee is a group of kids & adults who started meeting up a couple years back! Originally, we started the committee to get the Seaside Skate N Ride Park built, but now that we have accomplished that, we get to do so much more! For example, each Saturday from May to October, we hold a skate clinic from 9 am to 11 am. We teach kids who don't know how to skate the basics of skateboarding and becoming comfortable in our skatepark. We stress the safety basics and require all participants to wear helmets. Wearing of protective knee pads and elbow pads are highly encouraged by the instructors of the skate clinics.
We are lucky to have Jourdan Tabor working closely with us this year. Jourdan is basing her Senior Pacifica Project on helping the kids of the Skate N Ride Committee plan and coordinate community service events, fun skateboarding contests and much, much more!

That video was very powerful, thanks for that=) I've always liked Warren G=) Life in the city is fine. I find myself, though, feeling a bit like a shell of myself. I work in a soul-less profession, go to a corporate-owned gym, eat at restaurant chains, drink Starbucks and feel like I'm not taking in all the culture this city has to offer. I also feel like I'm not contributing. I need to get some volunteer stuff moving, fo suurrre. So, what negativity was that board member pissed about? I don't recall any negativity at the showcase? People are weird. Well, lovie, you should come into the city and we can cultivate some culture together. Miss you! Kitten XXXXX
