A vaccine is given to prevent infection or fight disease. Currently there is no vaccine against HIV. Part of the process of finding an HIV vaccine is testing study vaccines that seem most likely to help the body fight HIV.
A vaccine trial is a standard way to test a specific study vaccine so that researchers can prove that the study vaccine is safe, and can find out more about whether it might work to prevent or fight disease. Volunteers who participate in HIV vaccine trials play an important part in this scientific research.
Can I get HIV from the vaccine?
NO! It is not possible to get HIV from the vaccines, because there is no HIV in them.
Who is eligible to participate in this trial? We are looking for healthy men and women, ages 18-50, who are committed to making a difference in the fight against HIV. Volunteers for vaccine trials should be HIV negative and planning to stay in the Seattle area for the duration of the study (at least 12-24 months). An important goal at our clinic is diversity. People of different backgrounds may respond differently to a vaccine and we need to make sure we find an HIV vaccine that will work well for everybody.

The Seattle HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU) is currently conducting research studies to try to find a vaccine that would prevent HIV infections. There’s no doubt that the world desperately needs an HIV vaccine.
• 40 million people worldwide are living with HIV
• In the U.S., it’s estimated that 950,000 people are HIV infected
• There have been 21 million HIV-related deaths
• 40,000 people in the U.S. will be infected with HIV this year
With facts like these, a vaccine can’t come soon enough. Check out our site. And then help us find a vaccine.

Hi,
Thanks for the add,
I am a French politician who lives with HIV/AIDS.
I was the first French politician – and also the only one so far – to acknowledge publicly my seropositivity, which was discovered in 1987.
In France, I am the chairman of a society with 13.000 French politicians of all parties (ELCS, soon on myspace). I support UNITAID.
One of our fight is to obtain that USA change their acts/laws which forbid people living with HIV/AIDS to enter in your country.
I know all you do against AIDS and we need you for this important fight against discriminations.
I have just created my "myspace" to promote this international fight and
I need you to mobilise in USA!
Best wishes.
