Hi, I´m a drummer and percussionist who lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
I´ve played the drums practically all my life, and in 1998 I went to India to study Indian classical percussion from tabla maestro Maruti V. Kurdekar. This journey affected me alot as a person aswell as my musical expression - as you probably can hear in my first solo album “The Sangeet Project” that was released in 2006.
“The Sangeet Project” is an attempt to merge two seemingly different musical worlds, classical Indian music and more western influenced electronica. My aim was to preserve the traditional magic and structure of the raga, but enhence it with heavier beats and a more suggestive, electronic feeling.
Two things was important for me during this process. First – that the origin, the raga, was handled with esteem. Second – that the musical meeting between east and west actually enhanced the musical expression, more than becoming a gimmick.
Right now I am working on my next album where you will hear some new interesting experiments! Except for “The Sangeet Project” I currently perform with bands such as REZONANCE, GJALLARHORN and LOWE.
