About me:
Somewhere inside her bent little head, I pictured a spider monkey doing cartwheels. Her mouth slid up her cheek into a lopsided smile and she nodded to herself as she wrote down a note. "It's just as we thought," she said. My spine went all tingly. "You've been planning this all along." This was more than I'd ever expected. All around me, crowding around me, were thousands of little men. Their suits, which only moments before had been silver and clean, had turned a foul kind of brown and gold, stained by the chemicals, and their glittering smiles had sunk down their faces into the worst kind of hatred. And the towering monsters in the corner, with their clubs and their spikes, threatened me with grunts and spit, swaying on the spot and scratching at the dirt. I said a prayer and clenched my teeth. It was going to be a long night.
