As far back as I can remember electronic music has been the soundtrack to my life.
From the very beginning, when my mother explained to me what a "Discjocky" is, my choice of profession was clear. This has to be the greatest job in the world, I thought, even if my mother tends to say DJ is not a profession! She could have a point because DJ is a way of life, a passion, a love of music, so to describe it as a profession sounds cold.
My life as a DJ began somewhere in the mid 80ies like most DJs in the bedroom with two old decks that I received as a present from my parents. Upto this point my parents had already invested in my interest for music, but trumpets & tubas where not really my taste. But still I am happy to have seen music from this angle as well.
At the tender age of 14 I started earning my own money as a DJ in the dancing school Teuber in Bielefeld. Many parties followed and I began mixing 45 min long Dance Mixes with two cassette decks, ah the good old simple days! Due to my fine mix technic and choice of music my hitmixes became much sought after mix tapes at my school.
1993 and the time comes to take up my very first real resident job in the Discothek Cinderella in Verl. The money I earned as a resident DJ was invested in a 8 track recorder and then a 24 band recorder so I could produce even more perfect and advanced dance mixes. Later in the mid 90ies with the advance of the computer making my recording technique out of date & obsolete and the golden era of the "Bootleg" mix I began mixing nearly hundred of mix CDs for example such mixes as "Deep Dance" and "Deutsche Hit Mix". This new income was also invested in my studio which was now not far from being described as a real production studio.
At this point I said to myself when my Studio is complete then I will start producing my very own tracks. This was the time that house music became popular in Germany, so I decided to produce house. 1996 I came into contact with Olav bel Goe and together we founded the music production company melino|entertainment. Olav took over the business side and I concentrated on the music production side of our business partnership. Between the years 1996 & 2005 I produced for melino many well known artists for example Natural, Rollergirl to name a few.
2005 Olav and myself decide to go our own ways as our friendship was beginning to crumble due to the daily work load & stress. melino existed untill may 2006 but to avoid any misunderstandings we both decided not to use the name melino anymore from this date onwards. To this date my friendship to Olav is still strong and we still work together from time to time. Since then I have been working under my real name and have in a short space of time produced quite a few international chart hits. Most of my time is dedicated to working with the English DJ Shaun Baker with whom I have not only built a good working partnership but also a close friendship.
The year 2007 Shaun & myself after much time planning, decide to found our very own record label. UPTUNES will not only release future Shaun Baker singles but also other artist material.
I must admit I am not an artist as such, an artist who projects feelings or pushes the boundries in a artistic way. For me personally it's all about having fun and enjoying the music. It still brings me even after all these years immense pleasure everytime I hear one of my tracks being played on the radio or in a club where the people enjoy and party to my music.
