“We want to rock you the way you want to be rocked”. That means everything to the band. The music fills your body and you know right away that these guys have spent many, many hours writing and perfecting their sound. What can be said about their sound is simply this--it taps the mainstream rock scene, following in the footsteps of many great modern rock bands such as ‘Trapt’, ‘Breaking Benjamin’, then adding in a touch of Pop-rock such as ‘The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’, and ‘30 Seconds to Mars’. In a time when everything is labeled and categorized, Seconds Fall stands out to say “Put us anywhere"! “People want to listen to a group of guys who pour their heart and souls into music”. What comes out is their story to music! It’s the mixture of heavy riffs with melodic and spirited vocals, epic tones and hard-hitting lyrics that reaches out to listeners of all genres and connects with them on many different levels.
It started 5 years ago in a suburb of Dayton, Ohio called Kettering. Mike Miller and Stephen Smith a.k.a. “Smitty”, the riff writing backbones of Seconds Fall, had been piecing together their vision of a new rock band. With the addition of Derek Newton came the beat, the driving force behind their heavy melodic sound. The band started to originate their very catchy tone, writing song after song. Some two years later, the band was finally one step closer to completion with the addition of Alex Hannan on bass, who brought with him an intensity for stage presence that the guys had never seen. With the four of them intact, the band continued to grow in their sound. They decided to continue to wait to find the right fit for their singer while playing a few shows here and there, constantly practicing and writing. Such a singer came in the form of a “chance meeting” at a local all night restaurant. Daniel DeDoncker happened to over hear Derek elaborating on playing a show without a front man. From the first moment listening to the CD, Daniel knew it was the right fit for him. Taking the CD home that same night, he wrote the vocals for what was to become Seconds Falls’ first breakout song “Lipstick Jealousy”. The very next day the band filled their missing spot, the empty void left for almost 4 and half years. Seconds Fall was born. Within one month the band brought their sound to the stage for the first time as a complete project. It was almost unseen that any local band could move so quickly. And move quickly they did. Playing over 20 shows and winning a “battle of the bands”, the group decided they were ready to hit the studio. And in less than 4 months as a band, Seconds Fall wrote and recorded their first album “Waiting on November”.
The sky is the limit with this band. The future holds many great things for this up and coming group. It’s undeniable that this is what they were meant to do. Whether it’s listening to them on CD or seeing their explosive live performance, you can feel the energy and life they have poured into each and every song. Touring the Midwest and the East coast is only but a footstep away for Seconds Fall.
