Die sechsköpfige Band, die gerne mal mit Toto oder Journey verglichen wird, macht Musik aus Leidenschaft – und das merkt man. Mit einer unverwechselbaren Stimme, markanten Gitarren, treibenden Grooves, mehrstimmigen Satzgesängen und jeder Menge Energie lässt Second Way seine Zuhörer den Spaß an der Musik spüren.
A band that names some of the greatest US melodic rock bands as their influences
doesn't seem to be something unusual at first sight. The only unusual thing could
be that this band is from Southern Germany. Oh yeah - and certainly the fact
that the age difference between the youngest and the oldest member of the group
amounts more than 20 years could be considered as "unusual". But these guys play
the same music. In the same band. Well, maybe this band deserves a closer look...
"Second Way" was founded in 1997 by Andreas Tompert (guitar), Andreas Lais (bass),
and singer Bernd Schneider. Along with a keyboard player and a drummer, their objective
was to create and play their own music - not cover songs like everyone else.
After a few gigs the band recorded their first EP "First strike" in 2000. In 2002, Second Way
figured the need for a second guitar player and were joined by Peter Storz.
At the end of the year the band parted ways with their former drummer, which marked the
arrival of Stefan Kupferschmid.
In fall 2004, they headed for the studio to record their first full-lenght album, "Changing times",
which was released in summer 2005. The album release also marked another lineup-change,
as Peter Storz had to leave due to health problems. Jochen Braun, by the time already a
good friend of the guys, came aboard.
In fall 2005, former keyboard player Jürgen Steidle moved to the USA for six months for
occupational reasons. Torben Bambusch filled the gap as a "hired gun", but eventually
became a full member of the band in May 2006.
Second Way are often compared to genre-greats such as "Journey", "Toto", "Night Ranger"
or "Bad English". Their electrifying, powerful live shows have given them the reputation
as a great live band that lives for the music with heart and soul.
