Sara Crawford is a singer/songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Formerly the lead singer for a local band named RUBY, she is now concentrating on her solo music career. In addition to being a musician, she is also a published poet, a playwright with many possibilities, and a graduate from Kennesaw State University (BA in English, concentration in Creative Writing). In 2007, she wrote, produced, and directedPainted, a play about the difference between art and reality. The play was performed through the KSU Underground Theatre and Film Movement, and it was a huge success.
Sara has recently completed a new play, Just Listen, an acoustic coffee shop musical that combines some of her old acoustic songs, new acoustic songs written for the play, and poetry with a story about love, artists, and evil corporations. On May 6, 2008, she had a successful staged reading of this production in which she got some great feedback. Stay tuned for news on this play!! She has also been accepted to Horizon Theatre's 2008 New South Young Playwrights Festival, which she's very excited about!!
Also, Sara has recently completed the screenplay for a short dramatic film, Leapfrog, which is currently in pre-production, scheduled to shoot this summer. Directed by Michael Tillman, Leapfrog is a coming of age film about an 18-year-old Cameron, who graduates from high school and refuses to grow up. (If you liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I think you'll like Leapfrog.) So stay tuned for updates on that! The film should be completed sometime in the fall!
As always, thanks for stopping by and supporting local artists!
