   About Nighthawk Ramblers
I’m a bit schizophrenic as a musician. I have a few different personalities. But my mainstay is music rooted in the Blues. Musicians like my long time collaborator John Merjave and fellow front man Lamont O’Neill have helped me cultivate that sensiblity. Many of the songs you have here are also related in one way or another to film. Some of them came from “Midnight Rain” a screenplay I wrote about the Blues. (Songs are marked Mid.Rain. The poster for the screenplay is the back drop to this site.) Some of the music came from “The Prodigy” a film I acted in and wrote some of. (http://www.myspace.com/prodigymovie). “Mirror of the Lord” was written when the movie couldn’t get the rights to Hank Williams, “I Saw the Light”. I dug as deep as my East Texas birth will take me and find a pretty good twang on that one. I do have a band as well called “The Nighthawk Ramblers”. We move from the Jimi Hendrix inspired (Seventh Son) to the Twelve Bar Blues (“Midnight Rain”) to music that birthed the Blues; the African American work song: (“Leave Your Daddy”). Lamont O’Neill’s (in pictures) stellar vocals and John Merjave’s killer guitar form the core of our band. The Ramblers may be performing soon at a venue near you. If nothing else I hope my music reflects a deep, abiding respect for the Blues. This music took suffering by the throat and made it sing. In this day when good looks sell music the Blues floats out from my stereo as if from an alien planet. The power that luminaries like: Son House, BB King and Mississippi Fred McDowell injected into their music can only be aspired to. In the words of Big Bill Broonzy: “you got to have the Blues to sing the Blues.” I do the best I can. (PS: John Merjave’s music can be heard here: http://www.27westmusic.com) I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

Music conveys emotion in every language in the universe.
If it needs words to convey emotion, it is NOT music.
