Making music for me and you
David Kyle started composing music as a kid in Eastern Washington using creativity as a way of escaping the dreary destitute of living in a small rural town. Early on he discovered bands like Polvo and Sonic Youth which opened him up to the unusual and experimental side of music constantly propelling him into new genres. While his roots are in Punk rock and early 90's indie rock today most of his inspiration comes from traditional Japanese music, Koto music, Classical composers, Post Rock/Electronic, and modern composers.
When in Highschool David played in the influential Post Punk band Junkswitch contributing a spark to the slowly dying music scene. Later moving to Nashville he formed the group Gloomy Gus playing with many talented Nashville natives and leaving his mark on the music scene. In 2002 he returned to the Northwest and formed the Post Rock band Susto Amore which was put together quickly after a bad breakup. From the ashes of Susto Amore, Lands Farther East, and Par Corliss the much anticipated and legendary math rock band Treasures was formed creating a trail of fans and sold out shows. After a short move to Europe David moved to Portland, Oregon where he started working on the solo project called David Kyle and the Invisibles inviting numerous friends to join him in recording and performing. David also plays guitar for the Y La Bamba backup band lending his angular guitar work to help redefine the genre of folk.
David has numerous influences which is easy to see when you listen to his music. You can find a classically arranged song with an electronic backdrop, angular guitars, weaving in and out of ambient bliss, with elements of math rock and even pure indie rock. He tries to find a fine balance between organic and electronic instruments while using every tool that is available to him.
