Sounds made possible by acrylic drums, cracked and about-to-be-cracked cymbals, a 1/2-inch 16-track tape machine, a nice soundcard in a barely functioning PC, a five-string passive bass, lots of vacuum tubes, some transistors, 110 inches of speaker cone, ringmodulationlowpassfilteringsynthesisoverdrive. Vocoding forthcoming. Sorry. Pet Set Records released our 12-inch, 45RPM debut in 2000. Various show-only EP’s were made available as we continued to write and record in the subsequent years. We last released a split 7-inch on North Park Records with fellow San Diegans Sleeping People (Temporary Residence) in Summer 2004, followed by the five-song EP “A Diagram of How Shit Flows From Your Toilet Into God’s Hands” in Summer 2005. We toured the Pacific and Mountain time zones in January of 2007. We almost had a legitimate record slated to come out this year, but, alas, we are the Secret Fun Club. We are equally interested in collaborating with other musicians AND in continuing to write and record as a two-piece. Yes, instrumental music—not to mention the power-duo line-up—is pretty fucking passé. Sal is currently the drummer for Some Girls (Epitaph), one of the owners of the label Three One G, and finishing up a degree in American History at CSU San Marcos. John teaches English at several institutions of higher learning in San Diego. The two of us have been making music together, in various capacities, since 1993.
