If you are bored with listening to music that all sounds the same and watching forgettable bands playing songs only fit for elevator muzac, come and see Secret Love Society. Not easy to describe, their music is heavy, but hypnotic, with songs of love, pain, obsession, the cruelty and banality of everyday life made lyrical.
What do they sound like? Imagine you are in a room with different music playing each corner. Nine Inch Nails, Black Sabbath, Oasis, Stone Roses, reach your ears, but inside your head, this is transmuted into something else, a sound that has a little of each of these bands but at the same time is something totally original and unfamiliar.
The vocals are passionate, intimate, vulnerable, teasing your emotions, the guitar alternates from a hot burning wire piercing your mind to spiralling notes painting new colours in your eyes, the bass and drums provide the pulse, with insistent riffs beating on your nerves.
All this comes together to make a sound you may love or you may hate, but once you have heard them, you won’t forget Secret Love Society.
