"...And why cant right and wrong always be this clear? I think its all the fear..." one of the lines from the Second Sight CD that I think sums up a lot of the human condition. We are forced by unseen forces (often they are unseen or unknown) to live our lives in private desperation and fear....fear of staying on top of our daily stresses lest we be swallowed up by the neverending hunger of societys greed and heartlessness. Most people are so swept up by the every day fears by being driven through their day instead of authentically living it. We all need to occasionally "stop the world" to coin a phrase and remember the larger scale picture of who we are and where we are going. I dont believe that we are all here to just scurry around like rats in the shadows, sniffing for the next gold nugget that will buy us maybe a few more hours of distractive, numbing comfort in a cold unfeeling world. I dont believe that the human spieces are supposed to shun all of their deeper feelings of love, or connection to a higher source, but somehow we have succeeded in doing that. We have completely wrapped ourselves up in our fears & greed. How is a race comprised of a species of that nature to survive? How is it to avoid anything other than a continuous parade of hatred & horror? It cant, and the daily news reports remind us of what our race has become. If we are ever to grow out of this dark time, we all have to reach...reach beyond the normal petty concerns of day to day existence...reach for the higher ideals that are still buried in our hearts and minds and can be found if we take the time to look for them....look for them with our truer feelings, those basic simple feelings of really caring about what happens to other poeple and the world around us. It will not happen if you dont try to look for them...if you dont reach for them. Go the way youre going & eventually you may not even remember your higher ideals at all. But take the time to reach into your heart, reach into your soul, you dont need to have all the answers to decide you care. Even the smallest good deeds have a ripple effect... Look at the world with you from a perspective of caring instead of greed, work from a place of strength in stead of a place of fear & give love each day. This is the philosophy of Second Sight, it isnt about phoney entertainment, its about the concept of reaching beyond the mundane daily push through life, reaching for a different way of looking at life, your own and the life of the world around you. reaching for a memory of the spark of life within you, reaching to find your True Spirit, your True Love.
Who is Second Sight? Steve is a solo artist from USA on 'The Quiet Earth Productions' label with 2 CD's out & a third on 'Second Sight Music'. Steve plays synths & writes lyrics. Nigel Potter is a solo artist from UK & also has a CD 'Alien Heart' which is him with Hawkwind's Alan Davey. Nigel plays guitars. Steve's solo music runs the gamut from all out new age/meditation music to trippy, heavier sounding stuff that more resembled the ambient side of Hawkwind or Porcupine Tree. Nigel's music is heavy intense guitar driven rock very much in the style of Hawkwind with the imagination of Pink Floyd. The two met on the internet at soundclick.com & began collaborting at breakneck speed. Steve would send Nigel a synth composition, Nigel emailed Steve guitar tracks he recorded based on the initial synth piece, Steve then mixed the guitars into the track, added FX, overdubs & handled the production & mixes & hey, you got a Second Sight song. They had their 1st self titled CD completed quickly once it got started. Music for sonic conceptual head journeys...
For live performance, to overcome the disadvantage of the distance between Steve & Nigel, Second Sight incorporates the talents of Staf Geysens of the French-Canadian progressive rock band, Visible Wind. Stef augments Steve's atmospheres in concert by adding his uniquely melodic bass playing & ethereal flute. It definitly adds a different dimension to the bands musical "voice".

Hi Steve and Stef, I hope you're both fine. Ambient, smooth, mysterious and powerful at the same time, quite a combination. Good job guys! Enjoy the upcoming weekend. Take care. Hasse (HFMC, The Flower Kings)

"Here you can go far" Apology for the usual delay :)
It has all the elements that first attracted me to your music. That atmosphere.... The unending openness for interpretation by the imagination, and a wonderful soundscape to provide all that the imagination needs to travel. Beautiful work Steve.

Hi Steve, I sure do remember Stef, I've met him many times in both Canada and the States, while I've been on the road with TFK. Sounds great to hear that you're collaborating with him, he's a great guy. Good luck with your music, man! Take care. Hasse (HFMC, The Flower Kings)
You did go far Steve, but just the right distance! I've said it before I know, but your music seems to be able to cajole one into a peaceful sense of security, and then occasionally there are elements that can make one feel uneasy. BRILLIANT!
