SECTION 16 is a Melodic Progressive Metal band based out of Colorado.
History:
Based in Colorado, SECTION 16 was formed in 1999 by vocalist Corey Brown, bassist Ian Ringler, and guitarist Toby Kinnaman after the fall out of Colorado Progressive Metal band Psyco Drama. The band was completed with the addition of guitarist Hercules Castro, also a former Psyco Drama member, and drummer Jeremy Hoffman of metal act Jaded Soul.
In 2002, Section 16 released their debut CD "Identity Crisis" which offers 14 tracks of melodic, aggressive heavy progressive music highlighted by the songs "Monkey Patch", "Alone", "All You Know", and "Live Through Me" (which was used on ABC’s Power Rangers Ninja Storm).
Shortly after the release of "Identity Crisis", guitarist Hercules Castro decided to leave Section 16 for personal reasons and to pursue other endeavors. This prompted the addition of guitarist Rain Zitro in the Summer of 2003.
In 2005, Section 16 entered the studio with engineer Bill Douglass to begin recording new material. Later that year, guitarist Rain Zitro was unable to continue on with the band for personal reasons. The band took the completed songs from the recording sessions and placed them into the three song EP titled "Introspection".
Starting in early 2006, Section 16 was joined on stage by another extremely talented guitarist, John McDaniel who not only performs with fellow Colorado act Titan Force but also with Jeremy and Toby in their side cover band Mother Load (which includes Jag Panzer vocalist Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin). John has been performing as "guest" guitarist as well as providing back up vocals for Section 16's live performances.
Section 16 is writing new music once again! The band is working on new material for a new full length CD.
Additional Information:
Both Section 16 vocalist Corey Brown and bassist Ian Ringler can also be heard with the group MAGNITUDE 9 on the InsideOut
Music Label.
In 2003, singer Corey Brown also filled in for vocal duties for the band
REDEMPTION for their live performance at the ProgPower IV festival in Atlanta.
This live performance also included Corey singing a duet with FATES WARNING's
Ray Alder.
Singer Corey Brown has also joined forces with the UK based Power/Progressive band BALANCE OF POWER.
