Section Eleven is an eight-piece Latin Dance Band based in Hackney, London, UK.
The band was originally formed by Jim Kidner back in 1990 at his place of work, Hackney College, from members of teaching staff. The band's name came about because quite a few members of the band were paid for their work at the College by 'Section Eleven' funding. This Section Eleven was a funding body for students from the 'new commonwealth' and now exists under a different name.
When the band started, we were all on the teaching staff at Hackney College, but now only Barbara, Lisa and Venetia still work there.
The band has built up a strong local following over the years and play regularly in and around North & East London. We play an exciting mix of Latin sounds including Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, Colombian and Brazilian rhythms. Section Eleven is an ideal band for parties and weddings. Our music is enjoyed by all ages and is guaranteed to get any occasion on its feet with infectious Latin grooves.
We had a video of Power here, but I've deleted it coz we don't like it anymore! Another vid for the song is planned...
