I served in the United States Army for 34 years before retiring as a 4-Star General in 2000. I have a wonderful family who continues to support me everyday. My wife Gert, my son Wes Jr, his wife Astrid, and my two grandsons, Wes and Dashiell, inspire me to do the very best I can for this country. I'm working hard to fight for an America that we can all be proud of and that all nations respect. Join me in this fight, visit http://www.securingamerica.com and get involved!

Unite Behind Barack Obama

There has never been a more important election in my lifetime -- with a war waging, gas prices at record highs, our health care in crisis, and our nation's standing around the world severely diminished. I spent the last year traveling across the country talking to great Americans in Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, South Dakota, Indiana and many other places. They all agree on one thing: This country needs new leadership, and it's time for change.

Many of you in the Clark community answered the call. Some of you worked tirelessly for Senator Clinton while others poured hours into Senator Obama's campaign. You did this because you were willing to sacrifice your time and energy to bring the change we so desperately need. I can't thank you enough for all you have done.

Now I am asking you to come together and make sure Barack Obama is our next president. This is a critical mission.

Hillary Clinton ran an amazing race. She inspired millions. Our party is a better party because of her campaign, and our nation is a better nation because of her service. She is and will always be a friend whom I admire.

I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on securing the nomination. His historic campaign has touched lives and his message has moved people in every corner of America. I believe he is not only ready for the challenge but will be a great President.

It's time our party comes together to stand behind Senator Obama as we move forward in this election season. I look forward to doing everything I can to help Senator Obama's campaign. While I respect John McCain's service, I know exactly what he stands for -- Bush's third term. America is a great nation, and our people deserve more. We need Barack Obama to be our next president.

Stop Iran War!

All Americans want to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons and interfering on the ground inside Iraq. Yet President Bush’s saber rattling gives the US little additional leverage to engage and dissuade Iran, and, more than likely, simply accelerates a dangerous slide into war. The United States can do better than this.

Whatever the pace of Iran’s nuclear efforts, in the give and take of the Administration’s rhetoric and accusations, we are approaching the last moments to head off looming conflict.

Cannot the world’s most powerful nation deign speak to the resentful and scheming regional power that is Iran? Can we not speak of the interests of others, work to establish a sustained dialogue, and seek to benefit the people of Iran and the region? Could not such a dialogue, properly conducted, begin a process that could, over time, help realign hardened attitudes and polarizing views within the region? And isn’t it easier to undertake such a dialogue now, before more die, and more martyrs are created to feed extremist passions?

General Clark, I've enjoyed reading your imput throughout the Election process. I'm in awe of the people you get to meet and the good that you do. I'm sure it was amazing to be in grant park on that historic night.
Now our country can have a new battle cry "Yes, We Did!"

Dear General Clark,
I want to thank you for all you have done to help make Barack Obama the 44th president of the United States. I want to wish you the best of luck and hope to see you with Obama in the white house as Secretary of Defense! I know that you have the experience and strong morale values to set our nation's military back on the right track.
Thanks again,
Dustin

Sir,
Last night was indeed GREAT, a true celebration that change has come to this country. While North Dakota may have shown Red on the map, here in the Red River Valley where Fargo is located, we were just as blue as the neighboring state of Minnesota. Magic was in the air last night, saying this was meant to be.
I've always been proud to be an American, Jason's Mom, and Airman Ben's, but last night, I did hold my head a little higher:)
Blessings to you!

Thank you for your bulletin post, "Change has come to America".

My thoughts go back 40 yrs. to when I shook hands with Bobby Kennedy after a political rally, then having to go back to my college dorm to learn of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. I think of all that has led us up to this point and wondering what took us so long? I think about being a 5 yr. old and one of my parents saying there were "colored people" across the street at a neighbor's house and looking out the window and seeing only people. I don't think that little kids even see color when they see people. It is a fact that Barack Obama is our first African American/black president. This is a hurdle we had to overcome. We'll have completely cleared that hurdle when we drop the "African American" or "black" and just see him as our president like that 5 yr. old would have seen him.

I give you my best, sir.

Carl

You never lied, sir:
Because we could do better, we did do better, and we all did it to together. Lucky for our national interests, you decided to join and serve in the Army...because you would have made more money as a fortune teller I'm sure...Thank for your strength and guidance during a very dark night in the collective American soul these past eight years. So, now that we have a Black president, maybe the Black Knights can show Annapolis who's the boss on the grid-iron this year, because last year's Army loss to the Navy was ridiculous...Best wishes.
