Seda was born in Tehran, Iran and at the age of seven moved to Armenia with her family. From a very young age, she had a passion for literature and music.
Upon graduating high school, Seda began receiving voice lessons from Yerevan Conservatory instructor and soloist, Sergei Danielyan. At the same time, she began singing for the Yerevan Yeritasardakan Palat's(Youth Palace) choir. Although singing in choir was beneficial, but Seda was more interested in Armenian folk music. For this reason, she was inspired when renowned singer Hovhannes Badalyan complimented her voice as being ideal for Armenian folk music. Meanwhile the pioneer to Armenian folk music, Hayrik Muradyan also expressed his high regards concerning her singing.
With the advice of Hovhannes Badalyan, Seda began singing at Gusan Hamazasp's folk group for a while. That was beneficial learning experience for her.
Following this several friends and she formed a band with which she sang for four years. Unlike the previous group, with the new group Seda was able to sing both folk and pop songs accompanied with the modern music instruments.
In 1989, Seda Garibyan moved to USA. After releasing her first album "Nazank" in 1992, she soon became active in various cultural events.
Having excelled in Armenian music, Seda wanted to expand on her performance of modern and pop by continuing her formal education by studying under talented Bill Keis and Virginia Sayre.
Seda Garibyan is actively involved with cultural events in Los Angeles and outside of Los Angeles. She does live concerts, lounges, private parties, and all kind of live performances. There have been articles written about Seda’s singing and poetry in some major Armenian newspapers. She has appeared in many TV programs throughout the years”.
