Sedrick is an independent rock band based in Ottawa, Ontario active from 2003-2008 with a wide variety of recorded materials released on our website sedrick.org over the years. Lillian Studt and William Echard of Sedrick are interested in experimentation and innovation and have in 2009 started up a second experimental improvisational project called Ablyss. Sedrick is the place where Lillian and William arranged some of their compositions collectively with the band. You can check out recordings from projects with our original lineup of Mary Gellner on drums, Jen Shinnan on guitar, William Echard on guitar and Lillian Studt on bass. Mary and Jen played with us from 2003-2007. Early on Jen contributed original songs to our recording projects which you can check out at the website as well. The many recordings we did with Jen and Mary were very creative and collaborative and we also had some very fun shows for which we thank our community of friends and fans. Dave Smith joined us on drums with the very same creative spirit and you can hear some songs that we poured our energies into. Our newer recordings with Dave reflect more of a power trio sound and William and Lillian have both added and performed keyboard parts for the new recordings. (We hope) The sound is eclectic and reflects the very many styles we listen to and try to internalize. We hope you'll check out our songs and let us know what you think.

all minds can use words and images... Europe repressed one side as a religious thing ... Europe eventually used only word-mind to create quite a world... Freud found that this repressed side existed and functioned without control: "mysteriously" something was there ...Jung called it active imagination... isolation experiments of the 50s found hallucinations were easy to see in image-mind ...today if we can we should try to use our imagery based reality because its the only way to keep up with accelerating change... Big idea/image: if you create you know what it is.
songs are so cool to create...In a way the music part comes from the image forming mind, but it must go be deeper into the physical mind too, to get our bodies moving...
A good drummer's hard to find; bonne chance. Love and Rockets? Wow. I wouldn't have thought it came through in our stuff but Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven and the self-titled record (the one with 'So Alive') were in heavy rotation when I was a lad. Flattering. Let us know when you get that vacancy filled!
