From the very beginning, in 1988, only remain Xav and Sylvain. At that time, the band is known as Shit Happens and releases two demos: Silence Sucks! in ’93 and The Stone Age in ’95, and a 7” as well (We must learn to share the common ground that we stand… with any form of life) on the French label Holy Fury Records. In 1996, the German records company Lost and Found (Ignite, Discipline, Tech9, Backfire, Uniform Choice, Youth of Today, White Devil…) contacts them and they change to the name Seekers of the Truth, paying homage to the Cro-Mags, which fits better to the spirit of the band. They record an album (Out of Ignorance, 11 tracks, 1996) and a mcd (Transcendence, 5 tracks, 1997).
In 1997, they record two new songs for the V/A cd The Nightmare Remains… in this Other Land on the French label Overcome Records and a 7” (Difference) with another band is released out on the Paris label Explicit Sounds Records.
Seekers of the Truth has always been delivering a positive message and encouraging a good state of mind, based on others’ respect and freedom. The lyrics are positive, putting the stress on consciousness and responsibility in our daily acts rather than simple critics of the society. Their music, like their message is sincere and full of energy, not hesitating to mix old and new school hardcore influences.
During their tours, which lead them to Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Hungary and Croatia, including the Dour festival 1997 in Belgium, they play with Agnostic Front, Comin’ Correct, 25 ta Life, Snapcase, Shelter, Backfire, Racial Abuse, Stormcore, Out for Blood, Right for Life, AWOL, Underground Society, D.S.B., Children, Drowning, Trapped in Life, Primal Age, Hang Up, Tribal Zone…
In January 1998, after their last show in Beauvais, France, they decide to put things on pause.
And in 2005, after seven years of silence, the band is back to keep on taking pleasure in playing music. In the beginning of 2006, Eternalis Records (French label) releases a V/A cd (Better at Making Enemies than Friends) with the current French hardcore scene, and the Seekers are there with a Bold cover (Always Try). In May, they record a cd single (Tinman, 3 tracks) released out on Eternalis Records. The band is now: JP – guitar (former MST and Madhouse), Clem – guitar (Aporia, Shall Remain, Dusteed), Franck – bass, Sylvain – drums and Xav – voice.
Seekers of the Truth actively work on their upcoming shows and on their next cd. Musically speaking, this new album will be more eclectic and innovative for the band, which doesn’t want to limit itself regarding influences and arrangements.
