A calendar for 2010 with the artwork of the album is available now at kunstdruckwerk.com
In the beginning, Butow Maler was already involved with the German project, KAMMER SIEBEN, and had just released the first album ('Unfinished Movies') on the well-respected Eis&Licht label. Troy Southgate, meanwhile, had been a vocalist with the Anglo-Dutch group, H.E.R.R., since 2003 and had worked on two albums ('The Winter of Constantinople' & 'Vondel's Lucifer'), an EP ('Fire & Glass: A Norwood Tragedy') and a series of collaborations with the likes of Horologium, Survival Unit, Sistrenatus and Erich Zahn. Butow eventually got in touch with Troy to see if he would like to provide vocals for a forthcoming KAMMER SIEBEN track. The mutual appreciation between the two parties eventually resulted in 'Love's Final Hour', a Gothic murder ballad featuring vocals by Troy and Maria Southgate. Butow then sent Troy several additional pieces of music that he had composed with Herr Twiggs, something which led to a highly-productive Spring period in which a total of fourteen songs were eventually written and recorded. The emergence of SEELENLICHT in May 2007, therefore, was not a preconceived development and the group evolved gradually as a direct result of the enthusiasm, commitment and creativity that went into it. The trio's energy and dynamism soon attracted the attention of Justin Mitchell from Cold Spring Records and plans were made to release the songs in September 2007 on a debut SEELENLICHT album, entitled 'Gods & Devils'. The group has just recorded a track ('Memnon, Prince of Ethiopia') for a forthcoming compilation album, 'Aithiopis', and are already beginning work on their second album. SEELENLICHT will also donate a track ('Dreamsleep') to an Attrition tribute album and, in the meantime, the song 'Demian' has been included on a widely distributed Gothic double-CD compilation entitled '13th Street - the Sound of Mystery, Vol. 4', featuring well-known artists like Type O Negative, Paradise Lost and Nightwish.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
