Feb. 29,1976 - March 21, 2004
WE LOVE YOU STILL
S.E.GA BOYS would like to dedicate this album, "Business Bout Ya Self" to Stephon Kelly A.K.A "Kelly Boy". Kelly Boy was co-founder of the S.E.GA Boys. The group was working on an album "KPKS" at the time of Kelly Boys death, which was never released. Everyone looked up to Kelly Boy, he was always the first in the studio and the last to leave. He had been leader of this group, co-founder , rapper and producer before his sudden death on the basketball court. Kelly Boy left behind a son and a daughter, along with numerous relatives, friends and fans. We still look up to ya Kelly Boy, you are still beside us in the studio. You are the soul behind the S.E.GA boys and we know you'd be proud! We couldn't have done this album without you and we'll always remember the things you taught us and the experiences we shared. You always said we could do it, and we have done it big. Track 11 on the cd " I Miss You" is in your honor and its going be a big hit, the people love it, so know
that you have your part in this movement. We have dedicated our album "Business Bout Ya Self" to you, Kelly Boy. R.I.P
| | Influences | It is a fact that the biggest stars collapse to form black holes, which are so dense and have such a powerful gravitational pull that even light cannot escape. For the scientifically challenged, this fact is merely my analogy when comparing the impact the S.E.GA Boys are making in the music industry today, tomorrow and years to come.
Representing a small town in South East GA (hence their name), this quartet consisting of three lyricists; spitting that undeniable fire and one vocalist; who will win the hearts and souls of many, are a group that will be nationally and internationally known before you know it. Taking what would be considered an industry blow below the belt last year by having their song Georgia robbed of them, this experience has only made these four gentlemen more humble and appreciative of the gift they have been blessed with because its been said that duplication is the best form of flattery.
With their album coming out in stores August 2006, the internet going nuts with over 500 MySpace spins per day, support from DJs across the country and in Canada along with a fan base that is growing in numbers by the hour, it is inevitable that they are well on their way to success. Embrace them, respect them, support them willingly and if not, you will surely be sucked in because even light cannot escape them.

The S.E.GA Boys have have won the 2007 Indy Rap Album Of The Year for the Southern Entertainment Awards!!!
Growing up in Waycross, Georgia, the S.E.GA Boys felt the skills of the 912 region were nice, yet they did not receive any shine. In fact, according to Big Smoove “in Ludacris’ “Area Codes,” the 912 was not even mentioned.” Frustrated, the group created an organization consisting of over 20 Waycross warriors. Hence, the SouthEast Georgia Boys or S.E.GA Boys for short. However, as Palay said it best, “everybody has ups and downs; some people had different levels of seriousness. So, we branched off.” The current quartet serves as the survivors lighting the path for Waycross, Southeast Georgia, and Northern Florida. A great musician named Duck from The Five Heartbeats once said that “you become a true artist once you experience pain.” If that is the criteria, the S.E.GA Boys’ artistry is pure as they have had their hearts broken not once, but twice. The first occurred with the record, “Dead Tight.” It generated enough buzz on neighboring WJBT-Jacksonville’s city wide call-in poll to be ..1 for 10 weeks. Tragically, the song died when a label attempted to hijack the track. Broken dream number two occurred after they created a song and video celebrating the S.E.GA community named “Georgia.” Lo and behold, Star-Easy received a horrifying phone call announcing a new exclusive by Ludacris and Field Mob named “Georgia” that sounded eerily similar. There is no animosity towards the DTP Family from the S.E.GA Boys, because as Big Smoove says, “our song has a different vibe.” (Click VIDEO to hear/see the S.E.GA Boys’ “Georgia” and click DTP'S "GEORGIA" to hear DTP’s “Georgia” to decide for yourself.) Optimistically, the S.E.GA Boys have used the experiences to strengthen their resolve and continue with their quest. Star-Easy reflects, “that’s why we named our album ‘Business Bout Yourself.’ You have to treat yourself as a business if you want to be successful in this game.” To that end, the S.E.GA Boys have teamed with Earthwake Entertainment, an organization designed to help the S.E.GA Boys achieve their goal of putting Southeast Georgia on its back while taking care of family and community. Yesterday, these were merely boys. Today, the S.E.GA Boys have grown into men as they take their civic duty seriously becoming positive influences in their neighborhood. Additionally, with Annual Georgia Day during the last weekend of May, the S.E.GA Boys give the people a sense of pride and support through a weekend of activities, concerts, and 912 love with the event paid for from the S.E.GA Boys pockets. The reason why? “Friendship is better than money,” Palay simply states. Seldom do you find four separate individuals with the ability to seamlessly meld into one unit to achieve a higher goal. But, when you “stay humble and keep God first” as Big Smoove professes, they draw strength to carry the entire 912 on their back. However, with much work to do, the S.E.GA Boys boldly announce there is no mo’ play in GA.
