An evening of explosive jazz talent, with brothers Jim and Chet Doxas, master guitarist, American John Abercrombie and much in-demand bassist John Menegon. As a music student in 1960s Boston, John Abercrombie caught performances by John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. Over forty years and nearly fifty albums later, he has built upon a strong jazz foundation with inventive and experimental playing that has established him as one of the world’s jazz guitar masters. Bassist John Menegon first worked the Montreal jazz scene before moving to New York, playing and touring with jazz icons like Dewey Redman and David “Fathead” Newman. Critics hailed his 2005 Montreal International Jazz Festival performance with the Dewey Redman Quartet as the best of the festival. Award-winning Chet and Jim Doxas have numerous albums, tours, and festivals to their credit, each player defined by unique talent and groundbreaking innovation. Chet has played with jazz stars like Dave Douglas and Ingrid Jensen and Jim with Sophie Milman and the John Roney Trio. The two play together in the Chet Doxas Quartet, and regularly with Oliver Jones. Une soirée explosive en compagnie de jazzmen bourrés de talent : les frères Jim et Chet Doxas, le virtuose américain de la guitare, John Abercrombie, et le bassiste que tout le monde s'arrache, John Menegon. Alors qu'il était encore étudiant en musique dans les années soixante, à Boston, John Abercrombie a assisté à des concerts de John Coltrane et de Thelonious Monk. Plus de quarante ans et près de cinquante albums plus tard, il s'est bâti une solide réputation en inventant un jeu expérimental qui le classe parmi les plus grands virtuoses de la guitare jazz au monde. Le bassiste John Menegon a d'abord joué dans les clubs de jazz de Montréal avant de s'établir à New York, où il a joué et fait des tournées avec des figures de proue du jazz comme Dewey Redman et David « Fathead » Newman. A highly talented musician and singer, Caroline Nadeau is one of the few singers that has developed an extensive jazz repertoire in the language of Molière. A classically-trained flutist, Caroline holds a degree in music instruction from the Université du Québec à Montréal. It was while studying that she first heard Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan and Manhattan Transfer. Ever since, she’s been in love with vocal jazz.
Musicienne et interprète de grand talent, Caroline Nadeau figure aujourd’hui parmi les rares chanteuses à avoir développé un vaste répertoire jazz dans la langue de Molière. Flûtiste de formation classique, Caroline est diplômée en enseignement de la musique à l’Université du Québec à Montréal. C’est durant cette période qu’elle entend pour la première fois Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan et Manhattan Transfer. Dès lors, elle a un coup de foudre pour le jazz vocal.
