this first compilation features 14 different contributions from artists living all over the world. the idea for the compilation grew out of a deep appreciation for music and the emotional influence it has on us. each artist was approached because of his/her unique sound aesthetic - they were not confined by a central theme or concept. the end result is a collage of sonic landscapes: warm tones, field recordings, drones, textures, digitized and analogue events, and other mysterious occurrences.
db listen comes in a handmade cardboard sleeve designed by starshaped press using antique metal and wood type.

segue is Jordan Sauer from Vancouver, Canada, currently residing in Washington D.C.. His sound is a patchwork of textures and tones with a focus on the interplay of timbre. These sounds are created through the blending of various instruments (12-string acoustic and electric guitar, piano, violin, melodica, various percussive drums and instruments, didgeridoo, childrens toys), incidental found sounds and field recordings. Jordan has numerous releases on netlabels such as Autoplate (Thinner), Kyoto_digital, Silent Season and his own db, which he co-manages with shane wilson. Much of this material is based on ambient/dub/glitch soundscapes. Being a lover of all music, his approach to music/sound composition is constantly evolving. Future projects may include, but are not limited to: melodica drone, acapella experiments, ukulele/island/psychedelic/folk, dub rhythm experimentation and/or more of the same.
Just listening to tides, calming and smooth. I know my stuff is way different but it doesn't mean I don't appreciat your work. By the way your album cover is beautiful. Thought I would leave some art for you. Anyways take care, Jere
OUT NOW !!! "4 SONATAS FOR ELECTROACOUSTIC THOUGHTS" Music by Francesco Giannico and Stefano Spataro
'4 Sonatas for electroacoustic thoughts' is a microcosmos of modified sounds, folk-derived loops, noise nebulas in which it is not easy to see the light. The soundscapes are rough and elusive, but well-balanced, and never excessive. The work (4 tunes for a total length of about 20 minutes) comes from a collaboration between Francesco Giannico and Stefano Spataro. In a pragmatic sense, the album is a mix of field recordings of an audio/video installation about Taranto's Ilva (made by Francesco Giannico) and electronic oscillations/acoustic hints (by Stefano Spataro). Nonmaterial sounds, layered over and over, folk memories and Interstellar Space strikes clash with discordant string lines and melodic scraps of an unspecified nature... A calm promenade in the unease of sound.
