Books
Not exactly a book... just a review from the Feed My Face Blog. www.feedmyface.blogspot.com
It was very cold in Federal Hill last Friday night. Segway was opening up for Philly's Brother's Past. Segway brought in a nice sized crowd that started dancing two songs in. Although considered a jam band their first song went in a California surf direction. The drummer was very static and from the start of the song was going a tad faster than the piano. Often when bands have to tweak a rhythm or speed problem it proves to be a problem, but not Segway. They soon worked together to tighten up their sound which carried through their whole set. With only two bands on the bill their set was long but worth the stay.
Slowly a jazz influence worked its way into the next three songs, the crowd swayed. The floors were bouncing as their lucid reggae hit brought people from the bar, the upper levels, and outside to the front. Next came a more synthier song that had hints of the headlining band Brother's Past with the similar drums of most Segway songs. The next few songs were more dance party anthems than jam band debauchery. They started off this section of the set with keyboards reflecting early Joy Division and slower guitar and bass. The last song for the night echoed through 8x10 as the whole crowd started dancing and as they left the stage they received great applause.
Segway is one of the most diverse jam bands in this town. The keyboardist (ERIC) seemed very focused and kept the sound together. It seemed he had had formal training. The drummer(STEVE) was a great player with even greater stamina for playing. The bassist (BEN) was the highlight of the show, he was very gifted at finger play. Last but definitely not least was the guitarist (KEVIN) who's powerful solos kept the crowd cheering. Overall I would have liked to hear more keyboardist, I don't know if it was an artistic decision or a problem with the sound.

i'll tell jon you've been trying to get a hold of him. the best way is to facebook him, but since you are behind on times i'll tell him to check his email. oh, and he is not very organized, as you've witnessed, so don't expect him to jump on any ideas right away. say...june...if you're lucky!
Guy...words can not express my jealousy of poking Sean all night. Ha. Just kidding, glad you had an amazing time. How's that cute little neice of yours?
OMG...I was actually going to write to you this morning and ask you what your plans for Labor day are, if your playing anywhere? It seems like a good time to come down there maybe. My reasoning for not writing was because i wanted to look up flights first. Anyways, if you and Sean are both here for Pit season, all of my holiday wishes will come true. Creek yay...Bisco Nah.
