Sei Hexe began years before the band’s actual start in the winter of 2007. It began with a friendship, and later a collective house between three girls (Melissa, Julie, and Katherine) who shared a common appreciation of many, many things: strong women in music, unique creative expression, metal, grind, riot grrl, punk, cats, witches, ouija boards, dark, grotesque things, cute things, and each other. Ruth Yoder (Sick Sick Sister) graced our presence between the summer 2007 and the summer of 2008, then Sei Hexe returned to a three piece in winter 2008. Our songs stay closely tied to the home and community we share together and we let magic and our four cats (Chuck, Belfry, Cobwebs, and Nelson) guide our inspiration. Sei Hexe is a culmination of influences by members of past and current bands including Sick Sick Sister, Sickie Sickie, Massive Meat Split, Transient, Order of the Gash, Cull, and others. Our songs are collaged spells of these collected influences, ourselves, and you.
