About me: Selecta AJ, the Caribbeans best kept secret and yet seriously underrated by many. Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Aj started djing in high school using his fathers old LPs and 45 records. With the influences of djs and sound systems like Stone Love, Travellers and Renaissance disco, Aj started taking djing seriously by buying his own 45s and forming a sound system called Twilight disco. They never really took off since Aj only had one turntable at the time. As time went on, Aj migrated to the Florida in 1997 to finish high school, during this time he took the time to finish high school and not really jump into the djing scene. In his senior year he started jumping onto the scene by djing at warehouses for high school kids. When he graduated to attend College, Aj joined the college radio station to get some exposure, which he did; it wasnt long before he started doing college parties. Being on the Radio and doing these College parties did Aj meet up with fellow dj partner Whitty Don and Dj Cal El who started the sound system/ dj group the Deportees. Looking for a mic man and someone to do the Hip Hop and Reggae set, the Deportees recruited AJ. Joining the team Selecta AJ starting doing outside parties not only at other colleges but clubs and local reggae parties. While doing the party scene, Selecta AJ also started producing mix cds that he tried to sell to help pay for school, but because of its popularity he couldnt help it that they were been bootlegged a lot on campus and on the net. To date Selecta Aj has produced multiple mixed cds on the underground market not only to promote himself but for websites and promoters all over. Although still trying to finish his degree, you can still catch Selecta AJ djing in and around Florida or also teamed up with the RENEGADE SOUND in Miami, FL now which includes Selecta Renegade (Mia), Papa Keith(Mia), Selecta Doubles(Mia) and Dave Marshall (Ja rep) and also apart of the Dj group called "the SoundBoys" (reggae djs) and the Hood Djs(hip hop djs).
