Selena Mars is a multitalented artist who has been featured in films and on television both in the U.K and in the States; most notably 'Footballer's Wives' and 'Proof'. She now can add songwriter to her already impressive resume with her self released debut EP "Empty" produced by Grammy nominated Alex Elena (Lovers, Dreamers, and Me/Alice Smith). The Ep is being well received in the College Rock community as are her energetic live performances. With a distinct and sultry voice, striking beauty, and honest introspective lyrics, she is poised to make a startling impact on both sides of the Atlantic.
Selena's unusual voice caught the attention of producers like platinum award winning Chiba Antoine (Amy Winehouse/Destiny's Child) with whom she collaborated with on several projects. Selena has also joined forces with Talvin Singh (Madonna/Bjork), Imani Coppola aka Little Jackie (for "Empty"), Chris Flam (Public Enemy/Korn), and En Esch of KMFDM for a Rawkus Records compilation, as well as members of Social Distortion. Admitting the studio "has a certain magic", she is very passionate about performing live and loves touring. She's jammed with acts like Finley Quaye, and has also shared the stage with J-lo, Lisa Loeb, Donna Lewis, No Mercy, and Pepper Swinson ( Boz Scaggs).
Her musical influences are very broad; ranging from Bjork to Nina Simone, Radiohead, Grace Jones, Massive Attack, Cessaria Evora, Sly and the Family Stone, and the Pixies to name a few. Her own sound blends elements of rock and modern, catchy pop hooks. Her lyrics drawn from experiences both happy and some less so. Mars used mainly real instruments for this EP. "I like the warmth of real instruments. People are always surprised to learn there is a real violin or real grand piano on these songs."
Mars is someone who very much likes to do her own thing. "I'm much better at being myself than trying to conform into something. At the end of the day I have to be true to myself." Although Selena is currently busy working on several different studio projects and collaborations, she will be playing a few live shows in NYC and in Germany that you won't want to miss.

YES! I do too, but I can't breathe, I can't sleep and my head is throbbing....I went to the Pharmacy last night and she hooked me up, so I hope with these meds I can get to feeling better.
