Sounds Like
Lyrics with depth and substance, pro peoples movement, words of progression, revolution stemming from love and not hate, soulful in a way, laid back to break ya neck-head bop type of shit
The message resonates throughout. From both critical and conscious lyrics blended with the soulful and melodic sounds provided on each track. This is a musical journey which discuss the storied lives of blue collar folks, immigrants, and revolutionary mind...Filipino-American emcee, poet, and producer Self-Axis is built to last. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area by the way of the Philippines, he brings a well blended sound that of a feel good vibe with substance, consciousness, criticism, and depth. He has graced many stages in his career bringing a unique sound and approach to music. More than the music itself, his words speak to the youth, the community, and the people that live everyday and face insurmountable struggles. He is active within the Filipino community putting in time to give back and serve the people. His music resonates the struggles of people of color who are oppressed and unjustly taken advantage of. He serves within the Bayanihan Community Center organizing young adults and youth by building their musical skills as well as building a solid foundation in life. He is also a member of a collective of artists through the Sound Science Project based in Daly City, California both as a participant and as a musical critic/assistant to the youth involved in the project. He is also a member of the storied conscious trio of emcees called the Nomadik Messengers. He has released past projects which includes three independently published books of poetry "Writer's Cramp", "Bridge to the Passage", and "Amidst A Gloomy Background", and also a hip-hop mixtape "Screams Of My Motherland Mixtape Vol.1" back in 2007. He is currently working on his group project with fellow Nomadik Messenger group members and his solo full length project slated for a 2009 release.

To Release isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore. It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret. It's not about pride and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past. It's not about giving in or giving up. To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on. Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing. To release is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh, made you cry, and made you grow. It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain. Letting go is releasing and having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving. It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy. To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free---
www.myspace.com/selfaxismusic1, remember that it's easy to let go when holding on hurts so bad--so free yourself from all these expectations and just be :-) Hope you find the unity in my new single "Release" feat. JRockA. So come peep the track! Stay creative and stay connected!!
