About me:

Selkie is the Orcadian dialect word for “seal” and mythical folklore tells of the Selkie folk as gentle creatures with the ability to transform from seals into beautiful, lithe humans. We at Selkie Crafts take unwanted clothes, blankets, curtains, necklaces and bracelets and transform them into fabulous hats, bags, quilts and jewellery, hand made to a professional standard.

SELKIE CRAFTS is the crafting arm of Augment (Scotland) Ltd., a user led mental health charity providing members with training and support to enable their transformation from people defined by mental and or physical ill health, to confident, self-directed individuals. Just like the Selkie.

Everyone is welcome to visit us at the Angus Community Enterprise building at 24a Strathairlie Avenue in Arbroath and browse our current selection of fabrics, threads and beads, as well as our portfolio which we shall be constantly updating here as well.

If you have a fabric of your own that you would like to see transformed into maybe a bag or a quilt, bring it in, let us know what you would like. We’re more than happy to oblige. Come in and have a coffee and maybe even a bite to eat at our Bust A Gut café. And if you want to make it that extra bit special, we can also embroider any item with a name or writing of your choice. Please check out our AUGMENTwebsite too, here you can see all the different projects we do as well as access our monthly mental health deliberation, the MAD News.
