| About Sell Crazy |
Sell Crazy is a 4-piece indie rock band from Berkshire. Their style
has been compared to that of The Futureheads, The Jam and The
Libertines and combines rock, punk and pop influences into an
energetic and exciting mix.
The band began in August 2004 when Gareth Duncan (lead vocal, rhythm
guitar) and Mike Livesley (lead guitar, vocals) joined up to write songs for
the internet SongFight.org competition. After a few months writing,
Mike recruited his ex-bandmate John Flower (drums) and the trio began
rehearsing, with Mike filling in on bass. Initial gigs at local open
mic and jam nights went well and the group began experimenting with a
number of different styles. Jon Buesden (bass, vocals), another of Mike's
ex-bandmates, joined in June 2005 completing the current line up.
Don't Give In, the group's debut EP, was recorded at No Machine
Studios in early 2006. Exhibiting a number of styles from energetic
indie rock to mellow pop, the songs appeal to a wide audience. The
4-track EP was released by the band and is available via their website
and at gigs.
The inspiration for the name Sell Crazy comes from the Jack Nicholson
line, "go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here." One of the groups earlier songs referenced the line and Sell Crazy seemed to sum up the band's tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
Following the release of their debut EP the group have been gigging at
various local band and student nights around Berkshire. Their biggest
gig to date was the 'The Great Escape' local bands showcase at the
Wilde Theatre in Bracknell, where they played to a packed crowd.
