The band SELLISTERNIUM came into being at the end of 1999 in Bydgoszcz. From the first half of the year 2000 to 2001 the band had been playing lots of concerts in clubs in Bydgoszcz (among others Sanatorium, Los Desperados) and in the open-air gigs (like Muszla Koncertowa, Wyspa Mlynska). Taking part in a music competition organized by the Provincial Cultural Centre Muzyczny Ogrod Sellisternium awarded a prize that allowed them to record their first demo in the Radio PIK studio in Bydgoszcz.
Unfortunately, after 2001, the members of the band drifted apart. Only after two years of silence, with a different and fresh outlook on their work, the band have started the activity in a completely new frame (from the original group only Anna Pietrzak and Marcin Koleniec have remained), in which they play until now.
The music of the SELLISTERNIUM is a mixture of moody art rock / metal with some influence of progressive - gothic rock.
In 2005 the band played in Bydgoszcz many very successful concerts, as well as outside the city (Sepolno Krajenskie). The year 2006 also abounded in a great number of shows in Bydgoszcz (clubs Monarchia or Spin). We gave a concert in Ilawa, as well.
At the beginning of August 2006 the SELLISTERNIUM started recording their music material titled "FURIA".
The whole music was recorded in the legendary studio of MOZG in Bydgoszcz under executive supervision of Grzegorz Kazmierczak (leader of the Variete group) who has also been dealing with finishing of all tracks.
The works will have been going on till the middle of October.
"FURIA" finally consists of ten tracks.
Year 2007 started with a very successful concert in Dyrekcja Music Club. Another gig in this club took place in April – when Sellisternium played together with Dandelion Wine from Australia.
In May 2007, Sellisternium was invited by a world-famous artist from Germany – Sara Noxx, to take part in recording of her LP called “The Best Of”.
The album-triptych consists of three CDs, and one of them contains interpretations of Sara’s songs by artists from all over the world (i.a. from Japan, Egypt, France, and Greece) in their native languages, and among them “If You” performed by Sellisternium.
The band’s version was recorded in 17-18 June 2007 in the Mozg.
Grzegorz Kazmierczak was responsible for execution and mixing, while mastering was carried out in Germany along with the longplay.
“XX-Ray” premiere took place on 29 February 2008. Its publisher is a German music company “Prussia Records”.
On 12 November 2007 recordings start again in the Mozg in Bydgoszcz, lasting until January 2008, and again Grzegorz Kazmierczak is responsible for execution and mixing.
Then, the music material is subjected to mastering in Yacob Records by Jakub Pacanowski. The works bear fruits – it’s a SELLISTERNIUM album called “FURY”.
In March 2008 the band sign contract with an American music company RENAISSANCE RECORDS, which releases the first SELLISTERNIUM longplay.
The worldwide premiere of the “FURY” took place on 13 May 2008, and its distributor is KOCH International.
The CD is now available through most of the Internet services all over the world, in shops in the USA, Canada and Mexico, or directly from the publisher and distributor.
In April this year, the band played a concert in Poznan during “Finland Metal Night” festival, and in May they performed in Bydgoszcz pending “Kulturalia”, which is the biggest festival dedicated to students’ culture, in July SELLISTERNIUM played a concert at Get Gothic Festival.
In the near future SELLISTERNIUM, in the first place, plan to promote “Fury” and, of course, to give loads of gigs in Poland and beyond.
