WHAT’S HAPPENING:
We’re finishing up sessions for the Semi*Famous album, which will feature about 12 songs. You can hear some of the preliminary mixes, on the MySpace player above, currently featuring "Could Find My Way" by Chris Cullinan...!
We have just replaced the video footage of "To Mariana" with a subtitled version for your sing-along and literary pleasure.
WHAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED:
Semi*Famous began as "Famous" at Sarah Lawrence College in 1996, with Seth Asa on guitar, Chris Cullinan on drums, and Sarah G Meadows on bass. They wowed intoxicated audiences with their hits, "Two of Hearts," "Social Butterfly," and "Girlfriend Sleeping Arrangements," as well as a host of fun Cyndi Lauper cover versions. Asa and Meadows both left the college, and, in 1998, recorded "The Almost Famous Project" sans Chris Cullinan, who was replaced by a sampling keyboard. "The Almost Famous Project - Not Going to the Beach" included such hits as "Not Going to the Beach" and "Bookmark" (later appearing on Seth Asa’s 1999 solo album, "Think of Me...") and was the last recording by the band "Famous." Until now. Chris Cullinan moved to Boise, Idaho, in 2004 to reunite with Seth Asa. Now, as Semi*Famous, the two deliver joy and pathos to an unsuspecting public. Both play the various required "rock" instruments, as well as lesser-known "non-rock" instruments like the kazoo and the nose flute. Sarah Meadows moved to New Mexico where she played with the critically-acclaimed, award-winning band The Hollis Wake. Chris Cullinan also drums and shares vocals in Boise’s up-and-coming high energy rock group 3 Sides of the Cube. Seth Asa has just completed new solo material. Pay him a visit to check it out!
