From auspicious beginnings in the drummer’s garage, to jamming in rehearsal studios, recording demos at the singer’s home studio and doing time on MTV, this band has gone from strength to strength.
With a passion for music that speaks beyond the notes that are played and the genre they are in, a wide palate of influences shape the sound of Semper Fi – exemplified by the ‘genre hopping’ from song to song that would seemingly occur and the difficulty in classifying the band. Despite this subjective illusion, Semper Fi has a distinct sound that echoes through each and every song with an ever-present constant, to remain ‘always faithful’ to the core of what the band personifies and the vocal message that articulates it.
With line-up changes that go hand in hand with finding the right combination of musicians, Semper Fi has finally found the missing links to its matrix. The understanding that the band members have not only with each other but the essence of what Semper Fi epitomises, allows for the sum to be greater than its parts. This is most obvious in the fact that despite the current line-up being cemented in August 2007, the band sounds like it’s been playing together for years.
