Senate is a sweet trip of alternative rock coming out of Orlando, Fl. Drawing influence from 311, Rage Against the Machine, and Incubus, Senate’s technical and riff-oriented style provides a breath of fresh air from the power-chord chorus heard over and over again on the radio.
Since formed in April of 2007, Senate has tread forcefully forward spreading their music and uplifting message across the South East. They have made hitting the road and creating a constant stream of new music their top priorities…
“Sacrifices have been made to take this band to where it deserves to go,” says lead singer Blake Johnson. “Alongside of Senate, I have dedicated the last five years of my life to my home studio. Most bands don’t have the convenience of access to their own HD recording studio, and this has helped us tremendously in creating our new EP, Transcend.”
Many would find it more than safe to say that this tightly-knit five piece would not be the same without the long history of friendship and musical chemistry they have enjoyed over the years. “Our chemistry as friends is the reason we are Senate…,”says drummer, Hector Boehme, “We are positive people who have always loved getting together to jam, or just to chill…it’s just always seemed natural for the five of us to play together.”
That chemistry makes a statement on its own as fans have quickly come to expect an energetic and intense live performance when Senate takes the stage, and they are never let down – front man Chase Mitchell – “The live show is where Senate really comes together, in your face, picking you up, dropping you on the floor, and plenty of room for lovin’”
Mixing up the live energy is one of the many things this band loves to surprise its fans with, and they do it well.
A quick sit down or chat with the guys after a show will let you know instantly what they are all about – “First and foremost we love the music; but we are very open people," says Chris Tribbey, "and probably the most rewarding thing about being in this band would be the countless opportunitites we’ve had to meet like-minded individuals who support and enjoy what we are trying to do. We’ve made life-long friends this way.”
Senate looks forward to what will prove to be a record year after signing with Fuel Records in late 2008. Spring 09’ will hold the release date for “Transcend” which is Senate’s first EP release and will also mark their first full fledged attempt at reaching the entire U.S. on tours throughout all of ’09.
“We’re all really stoked to go out on the road playing the music we love,” says Dave Borer “We can’t wait to make some new friends out there!” Look for Senate on tour in 2009!!!
