Interests

  • General

    Interests eh? Well uhm...

    - Poetry (All types, but it has to make some sense)
    - Music (Anything that doesn't suck)
    - Art (No, a red square on a white canvas isn't art, its lazy and uninspired)
    - Culture
    - Politics (Conservatives piss me off)
    - Debate & Good Conversation (good conversation is not talking about vanity)
    - Coffee (I like all types, well sans decaf.)
    - Technology (I am a geek, and damned proud of it)
    - Comics/Graphic Novels (Yes, I do read them, have a problem?)
    - Philosophy (There is philosophy in everything).
    - Photography (Just taking snapshots without technique is like music without theory, one that does this comes off as an asshole).
    - Gaming
    - others (to be added later).

    What I'm not interested in:

    - Couture (Ridiculous and worthless bullshit)
    - NASCAR (Wooot, look at me drive in circles and continue to fuck the environment...yay...bastards.)
    - Redneck Lifestyle (It's not a culture to be proud of ignorance and a lack of a societal standard of education).
    - The Lack or Refusal to become better educated on a subject (Not all Muslims are terrorists, Israel isn't a victim, Gas boycotts do not work, Global Warming does in-fact exist, & many more.)
    - Sony (Shitty products, shitty company, shitty reputation)
    - Vanity (Who fucking cares if you wear Gucci, if you've had plastic surgery, you drive a Bentley, live in a mansion...I don't)
    - Snobbery
    - ...many more to be added later.

    Current Listening:
  • Movies

Too much to list. I can shorten it to this...

    Anything but:
Napoleon Dynamite (90 minutes of my life I could have used to count threads in the carpet or watching Gigli)
Graveyard Shift (Stephen King, how could you?)
  • Television

I don't watch as much TV as I used to, but when I do, this is what I would be found watching:

    LOST
    Desperate Housewives
    [adult swim]
    Alias
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
    The Colbert Report
    Smallville
    Heroes
    Studio 60
  • Books

    Currently Reading (as of 02/23/2007):
The Garden of Eden by Ernest Hemingway

    Books Read:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (too much dialogue, but not that bad of a book, and yes, I am defending a Jane Austen novel)
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (damn good)
    Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Abraham Lincoln and the Second American Revolution by James M. McPherson
    The Prince by Nicollo Machiavelli
Art of War by Sun Tzu
    Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
    1984 by George Orwell
    The Crucible by Arthur Miller
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
    and plenty more...

God: Proving God exists is almost as futile as teaching a turtle to speak Portugese.
Gay Rights: I'm all for it
Gun Ownership: The second amendment needs clarifying.
Free Speech: I'm all for it. Censorship is unconstitutional...PERIOD.
Terrorism: If my fellow Americans would have made responsible choices in the past eight years, it wouldn't be an issue.
Military: I support the military, don't get me wrong when I say that I am against the war in Iraq, but I would not send my brothers and sisters into harms way without ..absolute.. merit. Abortion: Pro-Choice.
Stem Cell Research: I support it fully, I would not wish it upon anyone to live with a disease or condition that is debiliating or fatal.
Drugs: Personally, with the pressure on the judicial system and the amount of tax dollars pissed away fighting them, why not legalize them all, if you have any other solutions, I'm open to hear about them. I'm not advocating use, but I'm not going to be naive.
Education: Needs to be a priortity.
National Healthcare: The U.K. & Canada made it work, what the fuck are we doing wrong?
Social Security: Needs saved, badly. Taxation earned from drug legalization could help put this back in the black.
Taxation: There are services and things that need to be paid for, consider it a personal sacrifice for your country.
Economy: In need of a major overhaul. Reform hasn't worked, time to raze it and rebuild a corruption free market.
Trade: The WTO, IMF, and World Bank must be abolished. We are a global society now, time to be responsible.

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day!
  • Nov 19 2009 2:43 PM

AWWWW...you poor thing.  I can see the newspaper headline now..."Car Accident Caused By Killer Cleft Note."  :D

Whatcha have planned for your big day today?

BTW, I don't know what your schedule is like but maybe we can converge paths and go for a cup of coffee/a beer/a concert sometime soon.  I'm open to suggestion.  I wish I had alerted you when I was down there last weekend for TRF.  We had so much going on that it slipped my mind!

The second I think you sound like Sarah Palin...no worries.  I will put you out of yours- nay, everybody's misery.

My bestie and his family sung this to me on my birthday, so I shall do the same...*Sings*  "O happy birthday, o happy birthday.  Gloom and sorrow and despair, people dying everywhere, but happy birthday.  O happy birthday!"

    Happy Early Birthday lovely one!

    MUAH!

  • Oct 26 2009 12:22 PM

Your message cut out when you were going into how your pics turned out...damn you MySpace!

I didn't get to chat with Angelspit, which kinda stinks, but between FanKam duties and people approaching me, I couldn't make my way over for a hello.

I was in the right place at the right time when I bumped into Jules.  It was a brief encounter, but I got a Ginger joke out of the deal.  LoL.  Steve is indeed one of a kind.  Andy disappeared real quick.  And Duncan was macking on some girl, otherwise I would have walked over and gave him a huge hug.  It appeared that he was exchanging digits, and I didn't want to cock block so to speak.

Skirts and dresses...yes.  I used to be opposed to any piece of clothing along those lines, but somewhere along the way I got in touch with my feminine side and haven't looked back.  Like I said, it's way easier than finding a pair of jeans that fit right.  They're either perfect at the hips and too BIG in the legs or perfect in the legs and too SMALL at the hips.  That's when shopping online can get scary for me because I haven't really been sold on a brand of jeans yet.

I'm going to take a gander at the photos and video footage I got at the show today, pop them into Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS4 and see what I have come up with.  They've finally posted the photos from the Granada photographer, so I should be posting those momentarily.  Getting a decent picture was tricky because of the strobe and the red lighitng.  I think I managed to get a few though.  *crosses fingers*  It was a badass night from beginning to end, and I can't shut up about it.  I've been totally geeking out.  LoL.

    *HUG*

I feel your shopping pains.  I have a Marilyn Monroe figure...curvy hips and slender legs.  So finding a pair of jeans to fit me is a crusade.  Apparently the fashion industry doesn't want to dress women unless they're twigs and men unless they're beefcake Charlies.  I gave up on pants and wear skirts and dresses.  Then again, I am crazy girly-like.

I did miss EA, which made me very sad.  I had a lot going on that night.  Meh!

Angelspit had some interesting instruments.  It was interesting to watch.  And they broke down their own merch booth, which I have yet to see a band do.  As for KMFDM, they only seem to get better, like a fine wine, and I wish they'd come back through one more time.  Thanks for the heads-up with FANKAM.  I only briefly got to talk to Jacob.  I did most of my dealings with Megan.  She wasn't very personable, and you would think hanging out with a bunch of crazy musicians would improve her sense of humor.  I can not wait to see the footage they post, too.  It sucks that I couldn't have a copy of the entire video, because I know they'll only use a little bit of the entire thing.  However, Steve was kind enough to let us pull out the camcorder and goofed off with us for awhile, so I do have that.  Did you get to see Chris and talk with the band?

Can't wait to hear tales of your exploits and see pics.

BTW, I was at Fry's playing with a NICE Canon digital...I wants!!
  • Oct 24 2009 8:29 PM

Hope you had a good time at the concert!
  • Oct 19 2009 9:39 PM

lol.  totally understandable.  guinness will do that to a person.  damn its deliciousness....
  • Oct 16 2009 11:56 AM

I think seeing her would be the perfect kick-off to the week.  You were actually the person to recommend listening to her a couple of years back, and I have loved her ever since.

That stinks you can't make it up.  I'm still trying to decide if I am making it down there to Houston.  I guess I better make my mind up fast, eh?  I don't know who Ugly Mustard is, and if they're playing the Houston show, but I need to Google them and give them a listen.

I still need to find a cute outfit to where, but that gives me an excuse to shop...gotta love retail therapy!

Hope all is well with you.  I was planning on going out this weekend, but the Texas/OU crazies will be out this weekend so I will be playing it safe indoors and at the Krishna temple for Diwali.  There's a steam punk swap meet that I need to finish making jewelry for...hopefully I can hock my wares!

Babbly episode #137 over...lol.  Have a wonderful Friday...and happy early Diwali, lovely.

    *hug*

I have tickets for the Granada show in Dallas...I had no idea they were playing Houston!!  I need to look into that because dammit, I'd see them twice.  =)  Which venue are you making it to?

And, no I don't want to beat you with a stick.  I do want to cut your heart out with a spoon, however because "a spoon would hurt more."  I'm not mad, that whole night was laced in DOOM...hahahaha.  I'm trying to remember if that weekend was mercury retrograde or not.  It was like THAT.

Any chance you'll be making it to the Dallas venue?
  • Sep 17 2009 3:21 PM

and i'm getting paid at work! so it's nice...but not as nice and LA-esque as you described haha.

Well, coffee is an addiction I wouldn't be concerned about, so it sounds like you're ok....even if you wanna get it via IV hahaha.  Well duh on my behalf, that's obviously a good point haha well that's great, i'm sure you'll be in Chicago in no time. I need a change as well, I just need to move out so i'm not in the eye of the storm all the time so to speak...

They say you learn more each time right? And I can say I have heard growth from your first stuff up to this new track. I guess inspiration is everywhere...that's awesome...I would have never known! :D  That was going to be one of my questions, what route will you end up going in then?

Nothing out of the norm, school and work....and the usual drama and ups and downs...and i'm looking forward to Vegas in less than a month! It's my mini-vacation so i'm happy and excited!
  • Sep 17 2009 4:51 AM

it's finally over....i was there yesterday and today only...at $40/day plus mileage so it's not too bad.

ah yes, you and coffee how could i forget? i'm glad you've been keeping busy :D that can never be a bad thing i guess. Chicago? what happend to canada?  You sound like you just need an overall change....and I say if you can, do it!

i like it...it's very techno-ish....it's kinda all over the place in a good way...i've heard it like ten times haha
  • Sep 17 2009 12:38 AM

  • Jul 16 2009 5:41 PM

Ah, well allow me to gloat back...I've already seen Planet of the Dead. :) It was pretty groovy. I think I've already located a copy of Waters of Mars...lol. If I do, I can send it your way? Torchwood's Children of the Earth starts, and I am trying to wait patiently to watch it, but I may give in before then. I'm still P.O'ed they killed Tosh and Owen off!

    *pout*
  • Jun 28 2009 3:35 AM

    i'll remember that :)

    how are you otherwise?
  • Jun 28 2009 2:41 AM

No moderating necessary. You have a lot more tact than I do. ;)

You were right about the shagging in the TARDIS, which I completely blocked out.

Now for Torchwood July 20th...I am a huge Captain Jack fan!!! God I'm a nerd.
  • Jun 28 2009 1:16 AM

wow i hadn't seen the picture since i was on my phone.
poor thing, she got really hurt :(
in the end, i'm glad you're ok.
  • Jun 27 2009 10:38 PM

*sigh* that would make for a great lyric by the way.
  • Jun 27 2009 8:46 PM

I totally agree with you, I'm such a huge Tennant fan, he's my fave Doctor.  I will miss Katherine Tate, though.  Her and Billie Piper were the best two companions.  Seeing Piper in Secret Diary of a Call Girl is so strange!

    :)
