Send My Regards might sound like some veiled mafia threat, but this avant-garde noise ambient duo won’t imbed a rusty ice pick into your cranium. Justin Cassidy’s and Patrick Rodriguez’s electro-experimental improvisations overlap minimalist substratum drones underneath throbbing oscillations. Ambient sound manipulation requires phenomenal savvy, keen audio-sensory perceptions, and wide spectrum of influences. Who could’ve imagined such vital conditions would coalesce for Send My Regards, within the unassuming locale of Oxnard, California in 2003?
Diligent effort went into producing their first self-released ambient electronica EP, Eleven Fifty (2004). Not simply content to create patterned sounds, Send My Regards initiated inventive methods of sample structuring and synthesized rhythmic tonality. Their follow-up self-released full length LP, Grandmas Cookies (2005), thrust SMR into vast atmospheric terrain, emphasizing eerily peculiar experimentalism.
Grandmas Cookies’ impact soon drew the attention of pfMENTUM label owner and avant-garde electronic artist, Jeff Kaiser, who enthusiastically signed Send My Regards to his subsidiary label, Angry Vegan Records. Enraptured by SMR’s stunning capabilities, Kaiser also sought fit to master and re-release Grandmas Cookies with the proper distribution it deserved.
Send My Regards devise surreal noise minimalism for the new millennium. Don’t overlook their striking evolution! - Eli
