“Time discovers truth.” – Lucius Annaeus Seneca
And so it has rung true with Charlotte, NC, metal band Seneca. Forming in 2002, time has proven a friend to the band hailing from The Queen City. Quickly establishing themselves as one of the Charlotte area’s unsigned favorites, Seneca continued to build their reputation over the next four years by playing a slew of shows up and down the east coast. As the notoriety of the bands that they played with increased, so did Seneca’s fanbase. So when it came time for Seneca to release their first full length in 2006, the band wanted a well-known producer that could do their unique, crowd-moving brand of metal justice. The answer came easily and Seneca entered The Basement Studio with acclaimed producer Jaime King (Between the Buried and Me, Glass Casket, Beneath the Sky) and all efforts were put toward the release. The album was an enormous independent success. The press took notice as well with magazines such as A.P.claiming that Seneca was “what metal should be.” Despite several line-up changes since the release of the full-length, Seneca has only seen their popularity grow. Now having embarked on two full U.S. tours, Seneca continues to play shows across the Southeast. Now, as they prepare for the release of their second full-length entitled Reflections, (once again mixed, mastered, and produced by Jamie King) the band aims to expose a new, matured evolution of intelligent, melodic, and ultimately punishing metal to the masses.
