The Sensational Joint chiefs Performed their first gig on June 1 1995 at the Pratt Ice Cream Social in their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They were a quartet - guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, and 3-part vocal harmonies. They drew much of their inspiration from gospel groups from the 1960s and 70s such as The Pilgrim Jubilees and The Sensational Williams Brothers. By the end of 1995, Bryan Olson had moved back to Mpls from Chicago to join his brother Dave in the band and add his guitar, bass, keyboard, songwriting and vocal talents to the group. The Chiefs self-released two albums, on their own Firetrunk Records label: MORNIN' TRAIN (1997) and LOST STEPCHILD (1998), both awarded "Best RnB Album" by the Minnesota Music Academy in each of those years. The SJCs have spun off to form several side projects including FRESH SQUEEZ, THE DIJONETTES, LATEDUSTER, MARY & JG EVEREST, & CAPTAIN BLASTED. Singer/guitarist/bassist JG Everest also performs as a solo artist as well as with bands VIcious Vicious, Roma Di Luna, and Unguided.
