Sense a été formé en mai 2001 par Stéphane Desbiens ( THE D PROJECT )(guitares, claviers) et François Bérubé (guitare acoustique, voix) dans la plus pure tradition des groupes progressifs qui ont marqué les années 70. Alliant la puissance du rock et la finesse du folk, la musique de Sense se distingue par des changements rapides de rythmes et par un jeu de guitare nerveux. Rappelant parfois des formations comme Yes et Genesis.
Appuyé par une solide équipe de musiciens dont le batteur Dany (featuring) Robertson, le flûtiste Sylvain Laberge et le bassiste Mathieu Gosselin, le duo s'est fixé comme but de réaliser la musique dont il rêvait, c'est à dire un alliage original de leurs influences respectives. Le son de Sense privilégie donc l'utilisation de la guitare 12 cordes, les harmonies vocales à la Crosby, Stills and Nash, la basse Rickenbaker, les sons de mellotron et un petit côté rock. La formation n'a pas mis de temps à attirer l'attention de la maison Ipso Facto qui, fortement impressionné par son savoir-faire, n'a pas hésité à l'ajouter à son catalogue pour une distribution mondiale. Le premier album intitulé Madness est paru en 2002 après deux ans de travail qui ont débuté bien avant la formation de Sense. Ce premier essai a permis d'établir la marque de commerce du groupe. , Sense revient en force avec Out of Range, un album plus mature qui confirme l'immense potentiel de ses créateurs. Composé de 6 pièces dont certaines dépassent les 10 minutes, le nouveau disque est indéniablement un pas de géant pour le groupe. Mises en valeur par une réalisation impeccable, les parties instrumentales et les arrangements vocaux ont gagné en pouvoir de séduction. La personnalité de la formation s'est affirmée et les influences, jusque là perceptibles, sont maintenant beaucoup plus subtiles. De plus, des invités de prestige tels que Brett Kull (Echolyn) et Fred Schendel (Glass Hammer) ont contribué à l'enregistrement de l'album par des prestations qui demeureront mémorables.
C'est en mai 2005 que le groupe lance le CD/DVD Stone in the sky, une première pour un groupe progressif du Québec. Grâce à de nombreuses performances, dont les premiéres parties du groupe britannique Arena, Sense est incontestablement une force majeure du rock progressif Québécois...

Sense was formed in May 2001 by Stéphane Desbiens ( THE D PROJECT )((guitars, keyboards) and François Bérubé (acoustic guitar, voice) in the tradition of the progressive groups of the Seventies. Combining the power of the rock and the smoothness of folk music, the music of Sense is characterized by fast changes of rhythms and a nervous guita works. Sometimes pointing out formations like Yes and Genesis, it is especially the result of the many artistic experiments of its two pillars which are not with their first weapons.
Supported by a solid musicians like drummer Dany (featuring) Robertson, bass player Mathieu Gosselin and flutist Sylvain Laberge, the duet was fixed as drank to carry out the music of which it dreamed, i.e. an original alloy their respective influences. The sound of Sense thus privileges the use of the 12 strings guitar , the harmonies vocal like Crosby, Stills and Nash, Rickenbaker bass, the sounds of mellotron. Ipso Facto which, strongly impressed by its know-how, did not hesitate to add it to its catalogue for a world distribution. The first album entitled Madness is released in 2002 after two years of work . This first test made it possible to establish the mark of trade of the group. This one is founded contrasts between the acoustic guitars and the dazing performances passing very close to the hard rock sometimes. Thus, the album obtained very good comments on magazines in France (Harmony, Big-bang, Highlands and Koid 9, in Belgium (ProgResiste), in the Netherlands and in Sweden.
Two years later, Sense has come back with Out of Range, a more mature album which confirms the immense potential of its creators. Composed of 6 parts of which some exceed the 10 minutes, the new album is a step of giant for the group. Development by an impeccable production, the instrumental parts and vocal arrangements gained to be able about it of seduction. The personality of the formation continued and the influences, until there perceptible, are now much more subtle. Moreover, guests of prestige such as Brett Kull (Echolyn) and Fred Schendel (Glass Hammer) contributed to the recording of the album by services which will remain memorable.
It is in May 2005 that the group launches the CD/DVD Stone in the sky, another steps Sense of Quebec-City. After many performances, oppened for the British group Arena, Sense is incontestably a leader in the prog of Quebec area...
